I am a big collector of the different Lite-Brite designs that have been released over the decades. I have some that were made in the 60's and love them all. The Oval HD is different not only in it's shape but the size of the peg it uses. The peg is half the size or even a third of the size of some of the older models' pegs. I was a little disappointed that the first design I decided to complete I didn't have enough of the correct color pegs. It did come with a lot of pegs but I just fell short of a good 25 pegs to complete it like designed. I just used other colors instead. I know that is part of the "gimmick" with the Lite-Brites...always trying to get you to purchase more refills. I like that the pegs fit nice and tight in the dotted frame. You can actually walk around and turn it upside-down without them falling out. Overall, I am very happy with the new Lite-Brite design. It makes a great addition to my collection. Would like to know where I can buy additional pegs? I have already searched and couldn't find any. ... show more

I bought 4 of these for Christmas gifts but kept one for myself. I remember the pegs being just a tad bit bigger. I had one peg break and one malformed peg, and I ran out of yellow before I finished the pattern. But the light settings on this is very cool and changes the color of the picture. Bought these for Christmas presents this year and was pleasantly surprised how small the box was. I was expecting a big bulky item that I had when I was a child. I think my husband and I are more excited about this gift and playing with these again, but I know my girls will love it!
