Description

This DVD is a fully interactive, educational reference that can assist any level of mechanic with the complete tear-down and rebuild of any 4-cycle, gasoline powered engine. The sections of the reference video are: 1-Preparation, 2-Removal, 3-Disassembly, 4-Machining, 5-Pre-Assembly, 6-Final Assembly, 7-Installation, 8-Start-Up. Watching this DVD is like having a master mechanic standing next to you as you perform your own engine work. The DVD also includes an active menu of tools and other reference materials that you can click in and out of during your viewing experience. These menus act as supplemental information to support beginning level mechanics without disturbing advanced mechanics with basic knowledge and concepts. • Badass dvd
They go super in dept about everything…..they take their time to show you what every part does, they show how to prep before engine removal and every little thing to do when removing the motor….they really only cover v8’s, inline 6’s and some 4 cylinders…they only work on rear wheel drive vehicles….I used it to rebuild a 5.0 302 small block for my truck, I had a lot of experience but this really fills in gaps that you’ll need…. ... show more

  • Excellent instructional video
I am office worker who is interested to learn about auto repair. I bought this video and I must say that it is far better than I had hoped. It uses clear, concise terms. It avoids jargon and does not make any assumptions that you know anything about auto repair. It is very thorough and detailed, well edited, well shot and is clearly spoken. Hats off to a very good job on how to rebuild an engine. I can't tell you how disappointed I am that there aren't a dozen more videos on air conditioning, electrical systems, suspension and steering and more. This product is everything it claims to be and more. Buy it with total peace of mind. ... show more

  • Excellent Primer
I am a tech geek (the computer variety) so when circumstances required that I get a vintage car (an old car) I decided that I would do the work myself. I have changed alternators, Mass air flow sensors, multiple AC Compressors. Fortunately I haven't had to do any internal engine work, but this DVD has offered me a grasp of how things work and given me a reasonable amount of confidence that given space and opportunity I won't be clueless. I even look at it for relaxation (I told you I was a tech geek). ... show more

  • Great DVD for those wanting to learn!!!!
Fast Shipping and item exactly as described by seller. This DVD was great for me. I was wanting to learn engine theory and begin my first rebuild eventually. I have very limited knowledge of cars. This is a great DVD for those beginners who want to understand a car engine. It does not explain everything, but that would take many many hours to do, I believe it is a great starting point, with more than enough information covering every aspect of engine rebuilds. Have fun with this DVD!!!! ... show more

  • Absolutely Invaluable
This DVD will transform you from a frightened and insecure novice into a confident, engine-rebuilding badarse. After watching this DVD a few times I was able to confidently remove the engine from my '65 Triumph Spitfire, recondition it, and put it back in. The first time or two through the DVD you might feel overwhelmed but watch a few more times and you will probably be able to do the whole job without having to constantly reference back to it. ... show more

  • A useful tool
Basic engine building is a really informative DVD that's great for introducing the fundamentals of engine building, but certainly not worth your while if you already have any experience in engine building (the title of the DVD 'basic engine building' says it all really). That said I think the DVD does offer some helpful tips and tricks and may be an invaluable tool for anyone just getting into building or anyone who has queries about the tools and processes required to tear down, build or restore an engine. ... show more

  • Great video
Great video on teardown and rebuilding of engines. Dont listen to some of the guys saying he is using an impact to tighten the piston bearing caps down. He doesn't. I learned a lot while watching this video and would recommend it. I rebuild transmissions for a living and this helped alot on the engine rebuild i started this year. ... show more
