This a nice set to have on hand for the upcoming holiday season and making mixed drinks. It is well made, nice stand included, however the recipe booklet was not included. If you plan on gifting this, also consider adding a cocktail recipe booklet Its a fun set, even for beginners!

The media could not be loaded. Hmmm . Well, I didn't get the supposedly included "recipe book". This is not a big deal – I have plenty of others – but there was supposed to be a pamphlet and there wasn't. It also just came in a plain white box. As far as the pieces go, they are perfectly functional and constructed of the stainless steel you want to bar equipment to be. They aren't super expensive, but they are heavy and well-made enough. The shaker is the simple standard style, and it didn't leak, the cork screw works and so does the chinois. I've never gotten the hang of Hawthorne strainers, so I am sure this one works! I've just never been able to make them work. I just use the fine mesh strainer. The jigger is in the Japanese style, the spoon is nice but does not come even close to balancing on its base by itself; the tongs are pretty cheap. There's no juice squeezer, but it has most of everything else. The holder is a disappointment. It's just plain, fairly inexpensive wood, and while all the pieces do fit in (eventually) where they are supposed to go, they don't all stay upright very easily and a few of them – especially the strainers – are a pain to set in properly. The slots and insets are small and shallow, and they do not hold tightly. This isn't going to be a practical set for heavy use. If you're occasmaking yourself and maybe a few other people a drink it will be fine, because likely as not you're just going to set the pieces down on the counter between usage anywho. It will look OK on the counter the rest of the time, and the jigger and the shaker are easy to put back. But if you're bartending for a large gathering you're likely not going to want to use the holder and the spoon may drive you crazy. ... show more

Will have to get a cocktail guide book to know how to use everything that comes with this set. So far I like the many pieces I’ve tried and look forward to learning more cocktails.

    • Gets The Job Done
The media could not be loaded. Bar Vivo Bartender Cocktail Shaker Set. This is a well put together set for mixing drinks. The Set is made of Stainless Steel and Food Grade material. The set includes three strainers. Hawthrone Strainer-Which have a pretty tight coiled springs It has less space than a lot of other Hawthrone strainers. Providing pretty comfortable ride for solids not to pass through. Its filtration is pretty neat. Julep Strainer- can provide excellent pouring speed making it quick and reliable and efficient when retaining ice or any muddled ingredients. And not to bad looking with its slight depth and holes. The Fine Mesh Strainer is tightly woven with very small holes that not even rice can get through it. And can provide the best strained puree and will do the job well. The Jigger is easy to grip and made from durable stainless steel. It's an essential tool for mixing drinks. I will have fun with this Jigger as I mix the drinks using both sides to help in measuring the amount, I need that will guarantee Consistency. The Muddler will get the job done for crushing herbs, fruits and spices. I'm going to use this to make pesto which is muddling basil with pine nuts and parmesan. This Instrument should work effectively. I love the Cocktail Spoon. I've seen some longer but this just the right side I need for balance as it allows me to nimbly rotate the handle in tiny circles traveling smoothly around the edge inside the glass. The Boston Shaker properly incorporates ingredients of different viscosities effectively for that lovely Frosty chilled texture. I see this also great for making shakes at home. The set also comes with two free flow bottle pourers for added accuracy and to minimize spills. Making it a lot easier. I not only see this set for bartenders but also a essential tool set in the kitchen for mixing any drinks and shakes and even help with balancing food recipes. I've bought a couple bartender kits over the years as well has been gifted a set for Christmas and they've all had their issues either initially or after some use. The main culprit being the quality of the product itself. There are sooo many shaker sets out there around this price that it's difficult to make a decision to be honest. This set so far feels a notch above what I considered my best set so far - however they all start off looking great. This set has a bit better selection of component pieces and overall more useful in the long run of what I would use. I can see myself using every element of this set with the exception of the bottle pourers which I don't see worthy of being in this set. The base is actually very nice and holds every element neatly into their respective spots. There are two slots on either end for carrying safely and that's appreciated. The only problem was I had to go to the Amazon site and look at photos to know what went where, it's not readily apparent. Part of me wishes there was a nice plastic reference sheet. Either way, from my initial unpacking and first couple of uses, this feels so far like something I can recommend at a price that is competitive to other products of this type. Only time will tell how it holds up and I will update my review should there be any reason to lower this rating. ... show more

This is a great set with lots of tools for making great cocktails. It has a wonderful, small footprint and keeps everything pretty compact. You definitely need a place to keep this. The stand is designed to come apart for storage, but the problem is is that as soon as you move it even a little bit, it falls apart.
