I used a high pressure "pro" gun in the past with a huge compressor and many $$$. Nothing has sprayed any better than this HVLP gun at a fraction of the cost. Now I have a 28gal compressor and spray 25-30lbs. I've used both the 1.4 and 1.7 nozzles on water and oil based paints and top coats for about three years now. Beautiful finishes. I've switched pretty much to water based material. Just finished spraying MinWax polycyclic (see photo) with 1.4 nozzle with almost no thinning. Maybe could spray without thinning at all but I'm hesitant to mess with something that's working. Looks like hell when you spray it, dries to mirror smooth finish. Strain the paint every time. Use distilled water to thin (if at all). Pour in an ounce or two of isopropyl alcohol and spray it out to clean. No need to take it apart all the time. Maybe every half dozen times I take it apart to add a couple drops of oil to the needle bushing and that's about it. Water base really speeds things up. This is an excellent deal, a “no brainer” I would say. ... show more

My initial use of this gun, spraying primer, produced poor results. I then took more time setting up the gun and experimenting with the settings and got a great result. So as long as you take the time to set everything up properly the gun works very well.

I like how much is included with this for the price, it's the complete package for a fraction of the cost, I'm considering buying the blue one just to set up for primer, I also like the metal cup, I've had several of the plastic ones and they don't hold up well, they break and it gets hard to put the lid on, however it could be I'm lazy at cleaning. ... show more

Cheap gun but it works fine. No DV-1 here but a good primer gun. Sprayed out some thick stuff with only the 1.7 tip. The 2.5 tip will spray out the body man in a can thick stuff. (Slick sand). Came with lots of extras but the downside is you have to use the wrench provided to change the tips.

9/25/25 Update. Seller read this review and contacted me to fix the situation. They bent over backwards to fix things for me, and totally deserve credit for that. It’s rare to have a seller stand behind their product like that and be willing to go so far to fix a situation. So I am changing my review to five stars as if you do get something wrong with your kit, they will fix the situation. 9/20/25 I bought this specifically for the 2.5mm nozzle. The 1.4 and 1.7 nozzles that come with it probably work fine, they close and thread and seal and assemble as they are supposed to. But the 2.5mm nozzle and pushrod are wrong size for the device. You can see in my picture the 1.4 and 1.7 pushrods are on the right and correct sizes. The 2.5 is on the left and is far larger. The excessive length will not allow the knob on the back of the device which holds the reset spring assembly, to close and thread, rendering the unit inoperable with the 2.5 installed. You can see in picture 2 with the 2.5mm pushrod installed, it sticks too far out the back and the rear thread-on part that is supposed to cover the rod and capture the reset spring can’t actually seat on the unit or catch threads. In picture three you can see the rear part placed over the pushrod, and you can see where the threads are suppose and catch and thread together, screwing in. But the pushrod is too long. It can’t close and thread together. The rear part is what holds the reset spring in so when you squeeze the handle and release, it resets the handle turning off the sprayer. Meaning, the failure to thread together prevents the unit from operating m. It’s useless for me because I only needed the 2.5mm size. And it’s the one size that doesn’t work. The seller included a “contact me” card, but following the instructions, it is apparently outdated, and doesn’t work. I tried to find another way to talk to the seller and can’t. So I’m leaving this review. ... show more

One of the knobs melted off when came in contact with the lacquer thinner paint I was spraying . One of the nozzles and the needle valve was faulty and would not stop the material from leaking out . Didn’t use it until after the time window to return so was unable to. Sucks!!

I mainly bought this to use as a cheap primer gun, it’s worked alright, but you do have to really fine tune it to spray how you want. I wouldn’t buy it to spray color or clear though, strictly primer. Other then that, I’ve had no issues with it.
