  • Does the job!
Size: 5 Gallon
So it does blow a fine mist of oil when you first turn it on, til it reaches pressure. I believe that’s pretty normal for these machines. Also, the instructions are terrible. The machine, however, does exactly what it is supposed to do (keep lid CLEAN and press down as it starts to seal!). Watch vids online as to how to use. ... show more

  • Acceptable quality but the valves came installed incorrectly
Size: 5 Gallon
You can see from the photo that the valves were installed 180 degrees from where they should be. You can't close either one because the valve arm hits the chamber. Fortunately, the sealant they used on the the threads was not very strong, so I was able to remove the valves, clean off the old sealant and then epoxy them back on in the correct orientation. Don't forget to buy proper synthetic vacuum oil. This one from Amazon works well https://www.amazon.com/TSI-Supercool-33713-46-Viscocity-Synthetic/dp/B01029464Y?pd_rd_w=FSKDN&content-id=amzn1.sym.528bfdfa-ea96-478b-a7d9-043e650836af&pf_rd_p=528bfdfa-ea96-478b-a7d9-043e650836af&pf_rd_r=X4VCW2160MMAWK0VG9M3&pd_rd_wg=Jlsz9&pd_rd_r=97e441a1-3a43-486b-99f4-955a6b63697b&pd_rd_i=B01029464Y&ref_=pd_basp_d_rpt_ba_s_2_t&th=1 ... show more

  • Poor performance
Size: 5 Gallon
Disappointing. The lid and container seem fine, but the pump smokes a lot and does not reach the expected negative pressure. Called and got a replacment sent, but with the same result. If you use it, I would recommend outside or in a well ventilated area.

  • Excellent. Worth the money
Size: 5 Gallon
I was a little worried about buying this for my resin projects. Seems some of the reviews are hit and miss. I took it out of the box, put in the oil and pulled a vacuum. What you see on the dial in the picture is what it stayed at for the whole time for 24 hours! Never moved. I know I have a good seal and the pump is working. A couple of things... 1) It came with a filter (see picture) but the manual doesn't mention where this is supposed to go. FYI the manual is pretty good for the most part. 2) Came with oil and the whole bottle filled it to about the middle of the min and max marks but when it was pulling a vacuum I could see either a mist or a bit of smoke coming from the top of the fill cap. Not sure this is normal but it still pulled a vacuum. 3) There is a thin mat that comes with it (see picture) but again I have no idea what this is used for. 4) The gauge and valve mount are a bit flimsy as it just goes thru the side of the pot and then a nut holds it on. I had to crank mine down a bit to secure it. They do give you extra rubber washers (seals) so if they are damaged you can replace them. All in all it looks well made and works. Came well packaged too. Can't wait to put it to use. ... show more

  • An excellent kit for resin... Once you figure it out
Size: 5 Gallon
We use our chamber for vacuuming out bubbles from resin mixtures. It does exactly what it's supposed to with no complaints, but it did require some initial troubleshooting. There were a few helpful tutorials for this model I found on Youtube. Here's What you need to do: 1. There's a black rubber gasket on the top of the gauge. In order to properly adjust to your local atmospheric pressure it needs a small hole poked in the gasket. I used a small exacto blade. Be very careful when doing this. The gasket can easily slip into the gauge and it will be unrecoverable. 2. Push down firmly on the lid when starting the pump. I hold it until it the gauge reaches 2.5, at which point it will keep climbing to 30 on its own. We put the pump on a styrofoam block with foam underneath. This really helps dull down the pump noise since we use it indoors. The pump spews out so much oil vapor so we attached a clear hose to exhaust it out a window. It works like a charm. Overall it's a great kit for the price. We use it at least twice daily and it's been running strong for about 6 months. At the price point it made its money back long ago. We'll keep changing the oil regularly and hope it lasts. ... show more

  • The pump produces a lot of smoke
Size: 5 Gallon
I really wanted to like this setup. I love the tank and the glass lid, over the others that use an acrylic lid. I used this for food prep rather that wood or other technical treatment experiments. The tank and lid, I give 5 stars. Excellent product. It is the pump that I didn't expect to be the problem. I was excited that it was a 4.5 cfm pump, but once I filled out and turned out on, it filled my workshop full of fog. I thought this might just be new pump issues burning the cleaning oil. I ran the pump for about 30 mins to clean it out. It is not usable. The smell of the burnt oil fumes and the amount of fumes that this pump puts out makes this not a viable setup for me. Again, the tank and lid and hose are top notch and I think stellar. I wanted so much to love this. Not with the choking fumes from the pump. ... show more

  • Overall pleased
Size: 5 Gallon
Overall I am pleased with this purchase. However the pump spews a good bit of oil mist into the air as it works. I have even drained all the oil and refilled to ensure it wasn’t over filled, but I still have tons of vapor.

  • Wow! This thing really SUCKS!!! And I like it!!!
Size: 5 Gallon
For the price, you can't beat it. It pulls an amazing vacuum. If I can believe the gauge it is getting down to 29 inches... and since I can see water boiling at room temperature, I believe it. I will say that I did swap out the pump oil. If you have other vacuum pump oil, do yourself a favor and don't use the supplied oil, as it really mists off as its pumping down. The pot, seal, and glass all seem to be of really good quality for the price. I love the fact that I can look in and see what I am vacuuming; it helps when off-gassing materials. ... show more
