Description

The Backwater Assassin Carbon Fiber Hybrid Paddle is the full-size version of its legendary predecessor, the Assault Hand Paddle. Weighing right at 38 ounces and 42 ounces, respectively, paddle design and technology is again moving forward! The Assassin is available in 2 different adjustable lengths: 230-240 cm (90.5-94.5 in) & 250-260 cm (98.5-102.5 in). The Assassin kayak paddles not only display the patented “hook and teeth” blade design and raised graphics package, they also provide unsurpassed performance and versatility. The hook is great for grabbing a line in the water, pulling in decoys, pulling you closer to the dock, or making a tree limb easier to reach. The oversized blade helps to pull a lot of water when paddling and makes turning even easier. The Assassin is designed for form as well as function. The unique blade design allows kayakers more freedom, more comfort and more confidence to challenge themselves. The Assassin was designed for both high angle and low angle paddlers. The shaft is made of a carbon hybrid material to help reduce the overall weight and the oversized ABS injected nylon blade is hard enough to push off on any surface and not crack or flex. Is your lure stuck in a tree? No problem, just grab the branch. Too close to the rocks or oyster shells? No problem, just give a push. For added length to the paddle, consider adding the 35cm Carbon Fiber Paddle Extension. This extension works with both versions of the Assassin Paddle.

    • Kayaking Multi-Tool! 💦
I bought this paddle to replace one of the cheap included paddles that comes with the Intex Excursion Pro inflatable kayak. It’s night and day difference how good this paddle is in comparison to the old paddle. It feels really solid in the hand, with next to no flex in the carbon fiber shaft. The blades are very handy for use in the rivers we frequent too which was one of the bigger reasons I bought this paddle. Our rivers are tidal so they can be very low and very high in the same day. That translates to me potentially pushing off of the rocky riverbed in unpredictable times, or rocks that may be submerged at some point, later being exposed. The serrated kayak blade really makes a difference for me in my application and I love having it. Also the hook on top is a pretty cool thing too, not that I use it all the time or anything but it’s a nice feature. I’ve used it to grab onto overhanging tree branches and pull in or stop periodically as needed. It’s like having an extension of your arm, and I don’t feel that there is any sort of weird drag or anything from the cutout. Im absolutely loving this paddle so far, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid upgrade from their cheap included paddles or from their old paddle in general. ... show more

    • Looks good, has a few downsides
Looks really sharp and is adjustable. Hooks allow you to grab dropped poles and tree branches. Handle is pretty slippery when wet and rolls in your hand causing blisters. Add some rubber grips and that problem goes away. Really have to crank the clamp down to keep paddle sections from spinning and sliding. And there is no indexing on handle, have to look out at paddle to know its position. I'm not returning but there are better options out there ... show more

I finally got to use this paddle yesterday on the Salt marshes behind Cherry Grove. What a high improvement over by previous aluminum one. I never got wet and the ease of use was effortless.

    • The only paddle you'll ever need!
I've put this paddle to the test and any normal one should of broke by now keep in mind I'm not a small guy at 6'4 347lb I have pushed and pulled my way across some pretty bad spots trees, rocks, and more then one sand bar with this thing and it always comes out unscathed backwater has more then earned a lifetime customer not that that means much if all I'll ever need is this one paddle! Update I finally broke it! but it got me out of a bad spot after dumping myself on to an oyster bed and soft mud that sucked me down waist deep I had no choice but to use this paddle as a step it worked but didn't survive now if you made it this far into my review I'm not a small person and know I asked to much of this product but it still surpassed my expectations I'll be ordering another and if I could give this more then 5 stars I would! ... show more

This is not as light as the hornet or a Magellan but the paddle is nice and can be used to pick up trash from the river or pull things in while kayaking
