    • Great Camera for Simple Needs
I have 7 Wansview cameras that I have bought over the last 5 years or so. The quality of these cameras has always been great. Some people downgrade Wansview cameras, but c'mon people, these cameras are extremely affordable. No Wansview camera of mine has ever broken, and mine are all still in daily use. For this reason, I view these as high value purchases. This new Q6 camera is the easiest Wansview camera to set up yet. The company is obviously making an effort to simplify the installation of what is quite a complex piece of hardware. I think most folks with average smart phone knowledge will get this going with little frustration. Once up and running, the video quality is excellent, and it is easy to control the camera's virtually 360 degree movement. There is 2-way audio, although the volume coming out of the camera is relatively low even with the volume cranked up. The SD card slot is extremely hard to locate, but it is there. Look under the eye hole of the lens. (If the camera is pointing down, it is covered up.) Again, for the price, this is a great camera. But, for some people there may be some negatives. (1) I couldn't make the app work without allowing Wansview to know my location. There is no reason to require my physical location -- not the camera's location, mind you, but MY location from my smart phone! This has not been required for my other Wansview cameras, and I do not see why some company in China needs to know where I am physically every time I check my camera. (2) You have to download a new app to make this camera work. This means I now need to have two apps for my Wansview Cameras. If you plan on adding cameras throughout the house, make sure you realize you may need more than one app for your cameras. (3) This camera requires purchase of the Wansview Cloud. $7/month or $70 per year. The first 30 days are free. (4) This camera cannot be used with Blue Iris or any 3d party camera software. This won't be a problem for most people, but it is for me because I prefer to use 3d party software and 5 of my previously purchased Wansview cameras that cost about the same work with Blue Iris. In sum, this is a really high quality camera with many positives. As a simple camera to quickly monitor your kids or a pet, it is great. Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I got the new Q6-W after using and getting dissatisfied with another 'brand name camera that won't be mentioned'. Anyway, right away I just knew this camera was it, I wanted something that the other useless camera didn't have and that was a very good wide-view... without that exaggerated fish-eye look. I wanted something that would be very clear when the lights are off. I wanted a camera that I could access when I'm not at home. I wanted a camera that I could adjust the view, look around the room if I wanted to. I wanted a camera that I could integrate with my Alexa device that all I had to do was ask her to show me the baby's room and "Behold! Baby crib''. I also didn't want to spend more than $40 for it. Well, not only did the Q6-W meet those expectations, it even surpassed it because I got everything I wanted, and found a few extra features to add to it. You can add family members to the account if you want to, you can set up motion sensor and adjust the sensitivity, you can talk to the other person like a two-way radio (you have to hold down the mic icon to speak). Plus, this is very huge plus, I don't have to subscribe to any nonsense, bait and switch "premium" services to enjoy the features that actually make you want the camera the first place! When it arrives: Just open it, set it up where you want it and download the app. (Quick reminder, when you register, you probably wouldn't see the email sent to you in your inbox, I had an issue locating the email and the folks at Wansview told me to check my spam folder, and I saw it- informed them to try to fix that little hiccup). Anyway, when you turn the camera on, it starts scanning for connection, then you have to scan your phone to sync up, and boom, you're done. There is a voice direction if you're like me and you don't feel like reading. Anyway, I love my new camera, can't wait for my baby to arrive so I can utilize it!! ... show more

This is a great home security camera. It has all of the features you need to keep an eye inside or outside (in a covered area) your home. It has local recording via an SD card, remote view-it-from-anywhere via the Wansview cloud app (the blue app, not the white one), motion detection alerts, a wide viewing angle, good night vision, and the app can show a 4-camera split view. 5 stars; because this is my intended use of the device. It is missing a particularly important feature (for me, at least) to be a baby monitor. Specifically, the camera can ONLY be viewed via the Wansview phone/tablet app. It cannot be viewed on 2 seperate tablets simultaneously (unless you create a separate account and 'share' the camera to the other account), a computer browser, or via a URL through another app or NVR system. These are features I need in a baby monitor so both myself and my wife can watch both of our children at the same time. Fixing this issue would earn a 5-star rating as a baby monitor. I DID NOT get paid for this item so my review is raw and real. This think looks nice, aesthetically, but that’s about where the good stops. It is very ‘finicky’ to get setup- it may or may not connect to WiFi the first go (which is required, BTW). Your WiFi connect must be stellar or else the whole system repeatedly disconnects. Do not rely on this if you have a infant. Too risky. Picture quality is actually decent- but it’s so choppy and laggy that you never get to benefit from the picture. The supporting app that you are supposed to use sucks- not user friendly at all. It tries to be automated and walk you through, but it makes it awkward and nonsensical. Made in China. AKA junk. Can’t we make electronics great again? 10/10 would never buy again. Mine is going back today. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. ... show more
