Wifey saw the neighbors ebike and was convinced her 10 year old Port-O-Trike by Workman (20") needed to be replaced or upgraded to an eTrike. Well this kit did the trick and saved my bacon. The only tricky part was that the 2 washers didn't fit between the fork and the wheel axle, but one did on the wire side of the wheel and that was enough, since the inside of the axle is fatter than the treaded part. I replaced the manual handbrake with the one in the kit, works great. By the way if the ehandbrake is connected and engaged (accidentally), the motor will not turn. ... show more

We bought our front hub E bike conversion kits almost 2 years ago to use at burning man. These kits have proven to last a long time without any problems. Even with the harsh elements of the playa we have continued to use this kit on our trikes without issue on at least a weekly basis. We LOVE THEM! We have gotten far more enjoyment and use out of the bikes than we ever imagined. Originally we were looking for something just to get us around black rock city so that we could see more the sights on our trip. This is enabled us to visit new restaurants in our area and do fun things like looking at Christmas lights and Halloween lights while trolling through the neighborhood. Fun and relaxed! Like most people it seems on here we started our bike projects by connecting 3 12 V batteries in series.. This has worked well but the battery pack is about 40 pounds and We are trying to reduce the overall weight on the bikes to add additional accessories that will make our rides more enjoyable. We have considered adding a second battery pack or changing to to lithium ion batteries but have not made a decision yet. For 3 12v 18ah batteries I spent around $100 and lithium ion batteries are hundreds more. I have some decisions to make. For the overall cost This is an excellent kit and has proven to be of great quality. When I 1st bought this I could only rely on reviews because I knew absolutely nothing about electric bikes and had never owned 1. We get a lot of compliments because our bikes are so unique and because they are mostly do-it-yourself we are not overly concerned that someone is going to steal them. Of course always use a bike lock, every time! The weight of the batteries and the hub coming in at about 60 pounds together adds quite a bit of weight to the machine if someone doesn't know how to turn it on and make the motor work. If you run out of battery and have to peddle this without the motor assist it is difficult if you are not in tip top shape. You will definitely be getting a workout. Both of us have run out of battery at different times and just get pulled by the other. The motor has no trouble pulling the extra weight. If you are looking to do your E bike mod yourself this is definitely one you should heavily consider. It was easy to install and took me about 2 hours in total because I decided to make some changes with controller position. My husband and I both set our bikes up separately so they were exactly the way we wanted. *** I included a picture of the front disk brake which my husband had the local bike shop install for him. Some people in questions had asked if we could add a disk brake and how it looks so here you that we bought was offered by the local Bike shop who we know the owners and got a discount we did not order it from Amazon. I have considered ordering the one that is offered through the same manufacturer as the hub and have not added a disk to mine as of yet.**** ... show more

Due to the expense of this I am very hesitant to review until I have been able to use it for a while. But for those wanting to convert to an ebike I wanted to share what I have learned.. Installation is as stated in the seller's description. Just install a tube and tire to the wheel, bolt it up to the forks, place the controller and run the wires. The pros are; the connections are easy and pretty impossible to not wire correctly, the supplied bag is ample for the controller and most batteries. The motor performs at or above expectations on level, sustained riding, the throttle is responsive. The cons are; the wires could be longer, there is no way to not use the cut-off brake switches without cutting the wires, and the motor is slow to start off and will not start on a slight incline. I wanted the cut-off switch on one set of brakes but not both but also wanted the brake levers to match. The only way was to cut the wire from the one not wanted. This is my first ebike and had no experience with sizes/wattage. I was not interested in high speed and after much reading chose the 750 watt. In hindsight I would have gone 1,000 watts. This one takes a few seconds to get up to speed, slows significantly on hills and strains to take off on even a slight incline. But, it does seem to be of acceptable quality and appears a reasonable value compare to competition. ... show more

I installed this product on a 20" folding bike. After installing a tire on the front wheel, the electrical unit was too wide for the forks. I had to rig a spreader to open the forks to allow the unit to fit. I built a box on the rear carrier to hold all of the batteries, and controller, so they fit and would not move about. I had to order a replacement controller which the company replaced and I mailed back at no expense to me. Once assembled and everything working, the bike works incredible. I have even clocked at 30MPH top speed on a small downhill grade and 20MPH on a level grade. Plenty fast enough! I have not run the batteries to empty to see how many miles it will get, but I am estimating about 20 based on my multi meter readings. This product does not require pedaling to get the bike to run. My wife's EBike does. I like riding without having to pedal! If you are handy with tools, I recommend this product! ... show more

Bought this to use on my bullitt for work delivering beer. Delivery was faster than listed after purchase - was at the door within 4 days. Was easy to install, took 30 minutes to maske sure it worked and another 45 minutes refining the install. Immediately upvolted to 48v14ah battery - the motor didnt skip a beat. I used it on the first day to deliver beer for 8 hours. This motor was pulling the bike (80 pounds), the cargo (100+ pounds) and me (200 pounds) without any problems. Used it in the snowstorm that came through the east coast on Superbowl sunday - the motor pulled the shift fine. I wish they made a stronger version of this setup, I would definetely buy it. This will be my back up system as I need something a bit stronger to work with going forward. 5 star rating stands across the categories. Make a geared version and might even buy this voltage again. ... show more
