NB: Many of the reviews here are NOT for Avery 8383 post card stock. This review is for Avery product 8383, listed as post card sized, 4 per card per sheet, double sided (glossy/matte) card stock. Nearly all of the listed attributes are grossly inaccurate or flat out falsehoods! 1. Postcard Stock. IT IS NOT. It is very thin, plastic based, photo paper stock, a tad thicker than office paper. 2. Postcard Size. IT IS NOT. Standard postcard size in paper card stock has been 3.5x5.5" for decades. Of late, there has been acceptance of 4x6 due to the high use and availability of that size for photo printing. But 4.24x5.5? You know where that comes from? Cut a standard 8.5x11 sheet in half on both axis. You get 4.25x5.5. They are dumping stock. 3. 1-Side Glossy. IT IS NOT. It is a cheap looking, poor ink grabbing, plastic based, semi-gloss or pearl style surface that when held at an angle to the light (after being printed and dried overnight) shows an ugly mottling, uneven ink retention, and a sickly pale to the color rendition. 4. 2nd Matte Side. That actually works. It produces a very good matte image, making this attribute this paper's only positive feature at a very high cost. So, what is it? This stock really looks like a re-purposed resin based plastic sheet that "might" be good for some other printing method like dye sublimation but for inkjet printers with standard pigment inks, this paper is incompatible as a photo printing surface and produces unacceptable results. For NON-photo purposes, like recipes or for those who don't know or care about photo quality, it "might" produce a mediocre image on the glossy side but only if printing a source image with vivid graphics (like charts) without any tonal shadings (like photos). If so, it then becomes very overpriced for such mediocrity. My supposition: It really looks like this could be a MATTE inkjet paper with a resin-based backside that (atypically) retains ink but produces an inferior image. I've appreciated Avery as a reliable provider of various specialty card stocks but this purchase left me with a mottled stomach. I'm going to try to get my money back. ... show more

I loved that it didn't smear on the glossy side. I used my inkjet printer and it didn't seem to take a lot of ink either. The cards are about the thickness of photo paper which is fine for me. Will be ordering again.

* Updates: I contacted Avery but they were useless. Amazon customer service was the answer! They understood my situation and helped me. So grateful! I will always contact Amazon first when I have an issue with the seller next time! One star (or zero if I could) for Avery, five stars for Amazon. This products were returned to me due to its aspect ratio too short to meet USPS standards for machine-readable size. USPS requirement for machinable aspect ratio is 1.3 (height / width), whereas this product is only 1.294. Currently the mailing cost of postcards is 36 US cents, but they asked for "additional" 39 cents, making each cost to be 75 cents. *USPS also damaged my cards and crossed the stamps with a Sharpie. ... show more

Even though the images shown for this product would lead you to think you can print borderless cards this is not true with their templates. There is slightly over an eight of an inch border around the entire page leaving 2 edges on each card with a border if you try to print a borderless card. I contacted Avery and was told their templates are not intended to print an edge to edge image. Plan on having a border if you use their templates. Do not expect a product as heavy as a normal post card. It is seems to be about half the thickness of what you would expect a post card to be. ... show more

I'm using these for a poetry postcard project I participate in every year. While it's not for a business/company, I like my images to look professional. I ran my first four (I use photographs I take or collages I construct) first on Avery matte finish. I didn't like the way it picked up the ink. So I ordered glossy. I was truly amazed at how much better they looked compared to the matte finish. I'm using a very ordinary HP inkjet printer, so not the best, but I still like the results. I'm so grateful to Avery for continuing to improve their software over the years. I totally depend on it for doing notecards and postcards. Of course, I'm a dinosaur! I fell in love with making notecards just when most people stopped using notecards and postcards as much. The postcard program is great. You work with your image, then click 'back of card' and you can put in your address, etc. and even make a descriptor, which I then easily turn and use as a divider between my poem and the address. My overall rating is a 4 because the cards are a little thin. But in my experience with the postcard project they go thru the mail just fine. The P.O. seems welcoming to them--I've received odd-sized cards, thick cards and thin ones. The image I'm submitting has been edited with a filter--I'm not sure how it will look in this review. ... show more
