  • The Matte Finish Hood Shield for F-150 Platinum exceeded my expectations
Style: Aeroskin II - Textured Black
Appearance: The matte finish of this hood shield adds a touch of sophistication to my F-150 Platinum. It enhances the overall look of the vehicle, giving it a more upscale appearance. The mold of the protector follows the body lines of the hood providing a clean finish. Installation: Following the provided instructions along with the included tips and tricks like starting from the middle and pulling back an inch of tape made the installation process a breeze. I encountered no difficulties during the installation, and everything went smoothly. The adhesive used to hold the shield in place has proven to be reliable, as I have experienced no issues with it so far. If I had one thing to improve it would have been the alignment of the shield along the edge of the hood (the outer edges are slightly uneven, see second photo) Overall, I am highly satisfied with this matte finish hood shield for my F-150 Platinum. It not only enhances the appearance of my truck but also provides functional benefits such as protection against debris and insects while driving. I would definitely recommend this product to other F-150 owners looking to upgrade their vehicle's look and functionality. ... show more

  • Stylish, purposeful, and reasonably priced.
Style: Aeroskin Lightshield - Textured Black
Was a little skeptical at first on what kind of material this would be made out of and how true the fitment would be to my truck considering it says it is specific to a year and model. With that said, this is made out of your normal heavy duty abs plastic of some sort I imagine and it is definitely durable with a nice painted finish. A slight rough texture to it. The 3M stick on light strip will seem longer than the recessed area you are applying it to but trust me and just start from the middle and two ends with light pressure (get another set of hands for more accurate installation). Slide it a little left or right judging the middle LED lights (line them up with the middle of your ford logo) and then apply that light pressure to the entire strip. You will notice once you give the edges a firm press down and then proceed from left and right at the same time, the excess will just integrate into itself. This allows for flexibility maybe, should something like a rock hit it, the strip won’t be so stretched out and tight that the rubber will absorb the blow from rocks etc.. P.S. Go to car store. Buy quick connects red or blue in the electrical isle. Use that to tap into your fog light + and - wires. 2019 FORD F150 - IF YOU HAVE UPGRADED HEADLIGHT PACKAGE. This is because your headlight does not have removable bulbs as far as I can see. It’s just one plug going into my whole headlight unit. So with 20 maybe wires in that plug I did not want to find out which one was + and - Your fog light has two wires on its plug. Just unplug that from fog light and splice in your + and - wires from the bug deflector. (Just my personal experience). ... show more

  • Alignment, installation and quality control issues
Style: Hood Shield - Chrome
Received the deflector and upon inspection, there was a small area (approximately 1/4" wide x 3" long) on the bottom edge of the deflector missing some of the chrome finish. This was noted in previous review posts from other persons who purchased this product. Fortunately, I had a bottle of liquid chrome finish in my shop and repaired. I could have returned, but since this issue was noted in previous posts, I'm going to assume this is a constant problem and ordering subsequent deflectors are most likely to have the same flaw. After removing a portion of the OEM hood gasket (note, you will need a small tool such as "tack claw" to carefully remove the existing OEM hood seal fasteners) I carefully aligned the deflector mounting tabs with the existing holes in the hood where the directions indicated to install the provided plastic female expansion anchors and screws. First, not all the holes in the deflector tabs aligned with the OEM holes in the hood. Second, contour molding of the deflector tabs was not conducive with the underside contour of the hood. Third, since the mounting tabs and the holes in the tabs on the deflector were an extensive distance away from the hood, due to contour issues, the plastic anchors were not long enough to safely and securely anchor the deflector to the hood; they kept popping loose and would not hold the mounting tabs in place. And, fourth...plastic mounting anchors...really??? You are installing a piece of exterior molding to the front end of a vehicle that travels at speeds up to 70mph on the interstate and they provide you with "PLASTIC" mounting anchors??? Ultimately, I had to drill through the mounting tabs on the deflector and into the hood and install #8x3/8" stainless steel self-tapping pan head metal screws to properly secure the deflector to the hood. Once again, fortunately for me, I had the fasteners and the correct size drill bit to accomplish this task, but most people don't have self-tapping stainless steel pan head metal fasteners laying around. So a word to the wise if you purchase this product, I recommend you have available the following items to help complete the task at hand: - a heavy duty bungee strap, piece of rope, a buddy, anything to help hold the hood to respectable height so you can work on mounting the deflector, otherwise you have to be 7' tall. - A "tack claw" or tool that can easily get underneath the OEM hood seal fasteners for their removal - (4) stainless steel self-tapping pan head fasteners (I used #8x3/8" SS pan head screws) such as ones used for assembling metal studs in commercial construction. - a very small diameter drill bit to make the pilot holes for the SS pan head screws - Option: a small bottle of liquid chrome finish to repair any manufacturing flaws on areas that won't be readily seen. Up to you if you want to repair any small defects or return and try your luck with another deflector. - And if you have a buddy that could help you, especially getting the first fastener in-place, that would be a great, also. I leave you with these words of encouragement from the great Clint Eastwood in the movie Heartbreak Ridge, be prepared to "improvise, adapt, and overcome," Good luck! ... show more
