  • under $300...you can't beat it.
I am fairly new to pellet rifle shooting and wanted a scope that I'd not have to relearn from my powder rifle scope. I have been shooting 338 Lapua with a US Optics 5-25x58 MRAD scope for about 10 years and find the MRAD extremely easy to work with and the FFP requires no additional thought. The Athlon scope with lifetime, no questions asked warranty makes it a no brainer... I have this scope on both my .177 and .30 cal Hatsan 135QE rifles using a Diana Bullseye ZR mount. This scope is well made, tight and solid. Since I was use to this type of scope already, out of the box it took 3 shots to zero it in.. If you shoot you need to find $300 and get this as it will be the envy of every other shooter you come across unless they already have one! FYI...I had read many different blogs about this scope and one question lots of people wanted an answer to was what size filter could be used to protect the scope. The answer is a 46mm lens filter fits just great. ... show more

  • Many time repeat customer
This is the 3rd Athlon 4-14x44 scope I have bought. It started my FFP craze. I have sold 2 on airguns to friends of mine. For this Wildcat MK II I ordered a FFP at a similar cost that had just got to market - sent it back. Then I ordered a more expensive 3-15 FFP that I have sent back for warranty and will sell when it is returned. Neither one matched this Athlon. I now also have 4 Athlon 6-24x50 FFP and one 8-34x56 FFP. All of these are mounted on high end PCP airguns. You can't beat these scopes for sharp, clear image, warranty, and durability. I've probably bought over 20 scopes in the last 10 years - these are the best you can find in the medium price range, ... show more

  • Amazingly clear glass
This scope is worth more than the money I paid for it. I have heard some great reviews about Athlon optics. None of them were wrong. I will probably upgrade this scope for one with locking turrets in the future and put this on my bolt action project. As a build on an AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmore for trying for 1000 yards for under 1000, I think I can make this scope work. Throw it onto a Savage Axis in 6.5 Creedmore, now you can reach 1000 for under 600. Here would be my tip to anyone that buys this scope. Out of the box, remove the turret knobs and take a Q-tip to the inside. if you do that and wipe away some of the greases, it will improve the clicks and make it less squishy. This is a great scope. I am very happy with my purchase, however, like I said, I think I will upgrade to a Helios so I can get the locking turrets. ... show more

  • ... use for drop and windage holds and this seemed like a good low cost option
I wanted to try out a FFP scope with a reticle that I could use for drop and windage holds and this seemed like a good low cost option. This is a great scope for the price and the glass is clear and bright but it's not as nice as scopes with similar features in the $1,000 price range, but it's only $300 it's a great value. My main complete is the feel of the turrets, but that's not too big of a deal since I'm just going to use the reticle for holds. If they aren't going to put nicer turrets on it that lock I wish they would offer FFP with this reticle and capped turrets. So far I've used it for a few trips to the range and one PRS style match out to 700 yards and it's worked great. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a budget FFP scope with a good reticle. I have a friend with the Primary Arms 4-14 FFP scope and I'd recommend this Athlon over that. ... show more

  • Vertical adjustment was not operable. Update
Beside the vertical adjustment not working, it appeared the scope was already adjusted. All my scopes when new are recieved zeroed from manufacture at default base value, this scope was adjusted. So I have no clue, it just didn't function, so I requested an exchange. I will try one more time. Mark II .22lr, mounted the BTR scope, looked great, glass was clear, illumination was ok, but vertical windage adjust no joy. So wasted day at the range. Quick replacement no BS. Recieved, mounted, zeroed and works as expected. Only thing I noticed is FFP thickness of vert/horizontal lines, at 12 - 14 power are too thick. Other than that, it is a good 500 and under range scope, due to limited MOA adjustments. I applied it to a Savage Mark II .22lr Minimalist zeroed at 75 yards. Hashes on reticle are dead on without adjusting elevation and windage, better groups when adjusted but for quick shots at 25-50-100-125-150 yards with 75 zero you will hit a rabbit no issue. ... show more

  • Great scope.
Really great scope for the price. I got mine when it dipped down to $239. Can’t beat that for a FFP. Yes, it was made in China but Athlon is a US based company with good quality control. The lifetime guarantee is top notch. Now, I just barely zeroed it today so time will tell if it will hold up for years to come. I’m thinking yes. ... show more

  • Love the reticle on this scope!
Have had many scopes on a lot of different rifles. This is my favorite for just all around shooting/hunting. Really like the fact that the entire illuminated tree is still visible at maximum magnification. Like the little nub on the magnification ring. Illumination selector is very stiff on my scope. Side parallax is an awesome feature! I have papered groups that are one ragged hole at 100 yards with this scope. Point of zero does not move unless you change ammo....LOL! ... show more
