  • Super happy! I, a critical jerk, am happy with this purchase!
I am a very picky person and almost never happy, but this purchase has made me very happy. All the right check marks are hit in this purchase. Reasonable price, the tech is great, the screen--while having some light bleed in spots near the edges--is incredible for the price. IPS is beautiful. And the backlight is pleasing--not quite the same level as a professional photo editing monitor (which use RGB-LED or RB-LED or RG-LED or GB-LED instead of WLED [White LED] which is just a blue LED with a yellow phosphor and usually looks terrible). In spite of the backlight most likely being WLED, the screen is very pleasing, so they may have used a better phosphor to split the light up into colors than the typical low-cost consumer monitors. The GSYNC and FreeSync ability is great to have! 144 fps is plenty good for games! ELMB is a nice to have but can't be used at the same time as the FreeSync/Gsync capability, and it results in the image being darker, since half the refresh rate is spent on black frames between image frames. I prefer the full brightness with FreeSync/Gsync to the ELMB feature. Full Brightness is pretty good, very usable, but still dimmer than what I'd like to see in a device, but for the price it is totally good. The sRGB mode is astoundingly accurate IMO. Haven't measured it with a colorimeter but it feels right. ... show more

  • Excellent monitor - Using with 16" MBP @ 144hz via Display Port to USB-C Cable
I am using this monitor with my 16" MBP and am very, very impressed with it for the cost. The screen is incredibly clear, with bright, vibrant colors. The stand leaves room for improvement. Quite wobbly, and doesn't telescope. Again, it's good enough for the cost. When I am using Bootcamp for gaming, using a Display Port to USB-C cable allows for 144hz which makes gameplay much smoother, and really increases the overall experience. I can't believe I gamed for so long at 60hz. On MacOS the same cable allows for 144hz, though I do not notice any increase or decrease in performance during normal tasks. Normal tasks for me means a lot of Excel work, some photo editing in Photoshop, PowerBI work, and typical stuff- surfing the web, e-mails, etc. etc. My home desk is not very "deep", so the 24" monitor @ 1080p is very comfortable to look at. I found a 27" to be too large, finding myself having to turn my head left to right in order to see the edges of the screen. This thing is perfect. In a perfect world a USB port would be on the monitor, but alas, there isn't one. It'd be great to be able to plug in a USB hub or something since my Mac doesn't have any. It'd really help clean up some wires. ... show more

  • Fantastic monitor! Great for gaming and all around use!
I just received my ASUS VP249QGR monitor yesterday and I am absolutely IN LOVE WITH IT! It came with zero dead pixels and everything looks amazing right out of the box (it also came with a DisplayPort cable which is great!). I have no idea why people have complained about the stand so much in their reviews because I think the stand isn't that bad at all. I have it sitting on a glass desk and it doesn't wobble or shake and it feels more sturdier then my old LG monitor/stand. You can always pick up a cheap $20-30 VESA mount on Amazon if you really want a new stand because this monitor does allow VESA mounting which is cool. Anyways, I highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a great IPS monitor on a budget and also for gamers! I've been playing some Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Persona 4, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Code Vein, etc and they all look freaking amazing with this monitor. ALSO! This monitor tends to be out of stock a lot. I was able to snag one just by keeping the Amazon page up and refreshing every 15 minutes or so while I watched some movies and browsed the web. It seems to come in and out of stock a lot but isn't THAT hard to get if you want one. When I originally placed the order it said it wouldn't come in until July 11th (which was almost 1 month away!) but about 2 days after ordering it my shipment was moved up to 6/18 so I received it in 1 week. So even if the delivery date shows as being a month or so away, there's a good chance you'll get it MUCH MUCH sooner! ... show more

  • Excellent 1080p Gaming monitor
Its a very nice monitor. It was easy to setup that the base can be screwed by hand thanks to the captive screws with flip key handles. It also includes an hdmi cable and displayport cable, so you don't need to go buy or swap one from another tv iin your house. This is not a curved screen, but most people don't really need a curved screen. The menu was easy to navigate and adjust to get the best picture for gaming, or for watching videos and movies. The IPS panel really is the best for color and clarity, and this is by far a great feature at this price point. Plus the 144hrz refresh rate lets your games run fluid smooth and the 1ms response means there's no delay to what you press or click from showing up on screen. The best feature on this panel specifically is the low blue light that ASUS calls Eyecare. It puts less strain on your eyes in dark environments like night or in a dark room. Great for those late night game sessions. Overall a good quality panel and highly recommend it for anybody whose gaming on a budget. Its definitely worth it. ... show more
