Set it up using DP to my gaming PC, and HDMI to my work PC. The monitor bezel is thin, and fit well next to my alienware aw2710hf 240hz monitor. This monitor is bright, I had to turn it down to 60-70% for daily use. Although I wish there were a mode that had more access to all settings, I was still able to get the color settings to match my other monitor. The stand is wide, but only half as deep as my other monitor which is a good thing, I still might put this on a monitor arm long term. The IPS glow was normal, it was not more than I expected, it does not bother me. It is much better than my old dell u2715h ips monitor. In the dark with a black background you can see the back light bleed/ips glow but I didn't notice it under normal use especially in normal lighting situations. See image, left is aw2720hf, right vg27aql1a. You might see it watching a movie that has black bars on the top and bottom, not a deal killer for me. For work, it was great for excel and real time data. Good resolution and clear text. I would say the monitor is on par with reviews I've seen for the gigabyte aorus fi27q and pixio px7. Presets for websurfing is fine, racing and srgb are best. I had to tweak some settings to fix colors for photo work in photoshop all presets were a little warm and bright but were fixable and not entirely out of the ordinary. Also had to tweak the settings for movies to a modified version of the scenery or cinema preset. Will probably setup with a spyder for a better match. Motion is good, this monitor is fast. Played COD, fortnite, star wars, DBZ without any issues. No obvious ghosting or other issues. GSYNC worked well. I'll probably stick with my 240hz for fornite but will switch to this monitor for everything else that benefits more from higher resolutions. PC specs: Intel i7 8700k @ 5ghz 32gb 3200Mhz ram ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 TI Update: For gaming I had some brightness dimming/flickering at 170hz, changing it to 165hz fixed it. I also found a stuck pixel at the top of the screen, amazon replaced it quickly. The new monitor has no defects, no hot/dead pixels and I don't have flickering issues with 170hz anymore. Very happy with my purchase.

Bought this since most modern graphics cards no longer support DVI, therefore my BEN-Q XL2411 could no longer run at 144hz which was my selling point to play FPS games like CS:GO with the higher refresh rate, which makes a huge difference. I'm still amazed with how smoothly everything is running, and the fact that it has 144hz at 2K, coupled with the ELMB and G-Sync is outstanding. Even if you're not planning on using it for FPS games it's still a really good monitor in my opinion. 144hz may make a huge difference on a monitor that's only 60hz, but if you throw ELMB and G-Sync into the mix it's truly amazing, you got to see it for yourself. I know my phone camera may not be the greatest, but in the first photo I have this ASUS monitor up front as my main one and I'm using my old BEN-Q as a secondary for now. I haven't looked into the 170hz, but I believe you have to have the monitor at 1080p in order for it to work (which in my opinion is a useless tradeoff from the 1440p). ALSO be wary that this doesn't have any VGA or DVI ports on it, but in my case they would have been useless anyways. Also it doesn't use the traditional power cord that you would per-say plug into your power supply, it uses an A/C power converter with this little cord that looks like a laptop charger, though for now it seems to work just fine. All in all I believe it's worth it if you're not paying over $500 dollars for, since the price seems to keep fluctuating I would wait for it to be between $400-$500 since I payed around $483 in total for this. I'm just putting 5 stars for value since it seems like they're stabilizing around $450 which is what I think is a good price for this monitor. Good work ASUS, ya done good.

This monitor is buttery smooth at165 hz, at 170 it worked by my eyes got tired quickly (could of been the cable). The frame rate counter works well, and it has very good contrast and reflection handling. Unfortunately mine developed a dead pixel in the top middle right and I found that you cannot adjust the brightness with the blue light filter on or in SRGb mode. This is an issue for me because with the blue light filter it seems to be locked at 200 nits which is bright for a dark room for me. Also 10bit color can be problematic for webpages and windows so Srgb mode is important, unfortunately that also does not allow you to reduce brightness. Asus cut costs here with the 1.2 DP port implementation, skipping 1.3 or 1.4. IMO that is very unfortunate because you could easily get 4:4:4 chroma sub sampling on this display with 1.3 or 1.4 above 120hz but if you want that you need to revert to 4:2:2 which is a shame in my book for a 10 bit panel. If you want that buy the Gigabyte version which seems to be the same panel or the LG with a tad less refresh rate. The speakers were terrible but i dont know if that was windows not finding a correct driver or not, i didnt lower the rating for this because ya, there monitor speakers and its actually a plus to have them at all these days. Overall for the regular gamer who likes some brightness this is a fantastic monitor at this price and most people wont care about chroma sub sampling or even notice a difference.

I really like how it has 7 gaming visual presets. Each mode is self described for what type of game it goes well with, and they are definitely optimized for visual aesthetics. I like to switch to cinema mode with low brightness when I am laying down for the night and want to watch some videos, combined with the night light on windows 11, it's really easy on the eyes. Also, SRGB mode is useful for general purpose web browsing, where all the colors are balanced. The monitor remembers what brightness you had set for the particular gaming mode preset. There is an option to overclock the refresh rate to 165, but I don't see the need to, 144fps is more than enough for competitive gaming. I can't think of any negatives for this product, so therefore it gets a 5/5 in all categories.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, I use this mostly for web development and little gaming here and there and can't speak to the some of the more avid pros that complain about the HDR, nits or it not supporting the latest Display Port version, but damn is this monitor amazing! Like stunningly amazing. I upgraded from a pretty good 24in 1080p IPS 1ms monitor to this one and figured I was getting at most increase size and better resolution, but the difference is night and day somehow. Height, swivel and tilt adjustments are really nice. Colors look great. Almost no discernable IPS glow (compared to my old monitor which had bright corner spots I'm blown away how little glow there is), no dead pixels, overclocking to 170hz was simple and setting the colors was easy as well. Started up a few games and was just stunned at how much better they look. Maybe its the 1440p vs 1080p but whatever it is there is no going back. 10/10 would recommend this monitor to anyone.

I bought this back in 2020 Dec,, product has amazing picture quality for gaming and amazing response time.. i came on here to write something 2 years later mostly because today my baby mama was so upset with me that she punched the screen super hard 3 times in a row in the dead center n then threw the monitor to the ground forcefully and everything unplugged while flying to the ground .. it was bad and i knew it was broken.. but i was proven wrong and was relieved to find out that it was perfectly fine and worked as if it was never touched.. if your questioning to buy a monitor with these specs.. dont look any further, this monitor is everything you could possibly ask for but better in any situation even if ur girlfriend/baby mama/ Parents ever feel like taking a hit to it or throwing it around ! Asus has u covered with the best durability.. game quality and response time!
