  • Gorgeous Monitor - Minor Issues
Style: 27" QHD 165Hz G-SYNC
This has been an absolutely beautiful, crisp, and wonderful upgraded monitor for me. It hits all the good boxes: clean and crisp picture, no noticeable screen lags, many nice features. But it has a few considerations that may be deal breakers. Pros: - The display is crisp and bright, and had no dead pixels or any issue on arrival. It doesn't have any screen ghosting or any refresh issues readily noticeable, even under heavy load. - The multiple inputs feature is easy to use and a nice addition, and all inputs test with the same quality. - The fine-tuning options of the display seem robust (but that may just be advances in general monitor technology). "Cons:" - The mounting area for this monitor is recessed into the body, and since my current monitor mount has been with me for 2 moves and a decade of time, I don't have the hardware to add it to my existing monitor mount, as the mounting area isn't flat on the back of the monitor. I suspect a newer mount would support it, but I don't know. (I expected this possibility when ordering so it's more just annoying than it is a problem) - The built in speakers aren't the best, and are limited in volume and their ability to not sound like they've been run through a 6" tin pipe. That said, if you're not aiming to run high-end media with the audio through the monitor (such as streaming, gaming, or music) most audio "issues" are passible. The main issue is convincing Windows which speaker set to use for which application, but that's not the monitor's fault. - Lateral mouse movements are considerably quicker (more responsive) than vertical movements in a Windows environment for this display, and will feel more responsive on the x-axis and sluggish against the y-axis for similar mouse movements. In most gaming environments I've tested with, they allow scaling to x and y sensitivity that can help mitigate the issue, but it might just be best to learn a new movement feel. Overall, it's a fantastic piece of hardware, but you should be aware of possible drawbacks just in case. ... show more

  • I love it!
Style: 27" QHD 165Hz G-SYNC
I was eyeing two other monitors with similar spec and mainly picked this up cuz Amazon had it in stock and it was lower than MSRP. I also saw that it had pretty good reviews from sites I trusted. I have to say that I'm glad I picked it up, Very clean design and minimalist. The only gaming aspect for the design is probably the base for the stand with some red. But the monitor itself is very simple and not crazy looking which I like. The bezel is also very slim. Not the thinnest out there but still much thinner than my older monitors. I also liked the clicky button for accessing the menu. SO MUCH BETTER. The quality really surprised me. The colors are pretty accurate right out of the box. I tested it with several pieces of media just to see and it was near perfect right from the factory which pleased me. Images are sharp and colorful and very accurate to the source. It saved me the trouble of having to calibrate it myself. My panel also doesn't have any backlight bleed at all. It has the usual IPS glow but no bleed whatsoever from all sides. I was pretty lucky because every other monitor I ever owned had some. Even my iPads would have a bit of bleed. Minor to major. I put on a black image and turned off the lights and it's as uniform as they could be. I feel like I got a unicorn. Phew! Overall, very pleased with this monitor for all things gaming, streaming video and general web browsing. This is my first Asus monitor and I'm a fan now. Definitely a good value especially compared to the others on the market. ... show more

  • It's amazing, minor drawbacks but manageable
Style: 27" QHD 165Hz G-SYNC
This is truly a nice monitor. I read a lot of reviews on various 27" 144hz monitors for about a week before actually buying, but have been eyeing this all year and ultimately came back for it. Prior to this I had a Dell S2417DG which is an amazing 24" 1440p 144hz panel, but I knocked it over face down by accident LOL. So much for having that as my secondary. Since getting this set up and calibrated to my liking I have happily moved on. The color accuracy is amazing and being that it's the same resolution as before, I get a much larger/clearer display with no change in gaming performance or mouse sensitivity... pretty cool I must say. The ELMB-SYNC is nice, but if you do a little research you will learn that it also has it's drawbacks with handling lower than max FPS depending on your refresh rate. Since I have an RTX 2060, i'm not hitting 165fps on every game so when I dip down to the 80-90 range you can see some slight tearing in high motion gameplay. That's where its up to the user to decide if its bothersome or not. For me, it's very minor. You either keep running at max settings and deal with that, lower the settings to get above 100fps constant, or just turn off ELMB-Sync. It still looks good with G-Sync alone, but when you go from having them both on at high FPS to only one of the two, you can definitely notice the slowdown... I think it's called being spoiled lol. But, from what I have read and now witnessed, that's where the divide on this monitor is. Other than that, the build quality is amazing, has a cool cable management door on the back that you have to pull off... feels like its not a door but it is, just takes a lil force to pop off. You get full mobility with tilt, swivel and rotation and the base is very sturdy while not being overly heavy. It's a very classy design that doesn't scream out gamer. All in all, for having an amazing IPS panel, 165hz, G-Sync compatibility and ELMB Sync, low latency, 27" and speakers?? Even if the sound does suck... you can hook it to external devices. This is a steal of a monitor for only $400. My old dell was $450 but that was at the time, a good price. ... show more
