  • Was it worth it?
Style: Graphic Card
Damn straight it was worth it - I went back and forth between different cards to try to get that "bang for the buck" purchase and ended up settling back on this bad boy. I got a ROG STRIX 1080 TI back in 2017 and this is the replacement card for that. I could have settled for a less expensive card, but I believe in the quality ASUS can put out with this line, and I don't expect to be let down. So far, this card has run dual 4K UW monitors while gaming without breaking a sweat. Temperature hasn't reached my limiter and not a single graphical issue/crash since purchasing it. So it works, it runs well and runs cool. I ran my PC through a benchmark and crushed my 1080 TI rating, leaving all my other components in the dust. All told, there are a lot of negative reviews about the price hike on this and some of it is warranted. If you're on the fence for this purchase, I only have a few things to say: 1. The global chip shortage is ongoing. The only company doing above and beyond is AMD. Go to their cards if you want to have a more timely alleviation of these high prices. Furthermore, NVIDIA and ARM merger is potentially being blocked in Europe, so this high price may be here for a while, pending NVIDIA pivoting to a different chip manufacturer. 2. I was fully moved from on the fence to fully convinced on one review from a completely different, albeit related computer component. They put it closely to this: "You can go and purchase the closest competitor to this item and you'll be happy as can be. You'll have saved money and everything will run just peachy. However, down the line, you'll notice that the item you purchased has now become ever-so-slightly behind the curve, and what you figured was a safe investment, actually put you at the performance ceiling from 2 years ago. Your safe investment was safe for THAT moment. So two years from now you have a choice: Stick it out with the item you have, run everything reasonably well, but not at full capacity? Or buy a whole new item of the newest generation? OR you can buy this one. This is the one that is built not for THAT moment, but for the moments in the future. You won't be able to throw anything at this within reason and expect it to struggle or fail. This investment, the few extra hundred dollars, will lend you an additional couple years until the new-new-generation of hardware comes out. And that other piece you had? You'll never have to think about a mid-generational purchase in its lifetime. And that is worth it to me." So take with it what you will - Yeah, this card is stupid expensive. But there is a severe shortage, cards may become more scarce, there are mid-level cards you can buy and replace twice before this 3080 TI reaches its end, and you can wait on AMD to release its probable banger of a lineup next year. Or you can drop the fat stacks and get this monolithic instrument of gaming and never worry about graphical performance until 2025. Also, it comes with a cool keychain. ... show more

  • This is the Top.
Style: Graphic Card
I shopped around. I compared reviews of every 3080 Ti out there. I originally went for a different card that was regarded as near the top on many lists. It didn't play well with my PC so I returned it and decided to sink the extra money to go with the ROG Strix. I regret nothing. It was the top of every list I found for comparisons and recommendations. It improves on the standard 3080 Ti in every regard. Works better, looks better, it's not loud, the UI is intuitive, the RGB is the best that I found, they didn't plaster their own logos all over it. It is understated and effective but still looks awesome. Every game I've played since installing has recommended settings of ultra thus far. No issues anywhere. Everything looks beautiful. The install was also very straight forward and easy. I was concerned the card may sag, but it has not at all. It is solid. Plug and Play!

Rocked my 1080 for 6 years. Was ready for this upgrade. A very nice jump. Hope to have this one for at least that long. Fit and finish is great. Love the ROG products and plan to add this to a new ALL ROG build by end of year in my Lian Li desk case.

  • Works Good...For a very limited time :/
Style: Graphic Card
I was absolutely in love with this card, then 2 months went by and it got loud compared to when it was first installed, now a few months later one fan has stopped working and the other is slowly coming in contact with the outer portion of where the fan is installed and seems to be literally falling apart. The actual brain of the card is amazing and almost worth the money, but I would recommend against getting a card of this brand name due to how little of a lifespan the rest of the card has. It saddens me to say this because I've heard such good things about the Asus Rog Strix series but after this I will most likely never purchase from them again. Very disappointing. :( ... show more

Dude this thing is super quiet and cool (temp wise) but also cool looking, crazy FPS and up to 4k gaming! It’s definitely the best gpu I’ve personally ever experienced!
