  • Seemingly decent mother board with MANY early adopters penalties at a premium
I've had this new system for about a month. I have never had such problems with building a NON overclocked system and I have been building PC'S since windows 95 (before plug and play was remotely reliable). Nothing is overclocked including cpu, memory, or gpu. I was able to use this MOBO to update to windows 11 without too many problems. Things to keep in mind: Memory: If you are using 2x chips install them in a2 & b2 (the set with the grey clips). If using all 4 slots there is something wonky with this board. I am running 4x kingston fury beast 5200 8gb ddr5 and HAVE to lower the clock speed to run all 4 slots. I am able to run them reliably @ 4533 but get errors when testing the ram above this clock speed. Also I cannot up the voltage to the memory with 4x slots. If I change the voltage in the bios from 1.1v to any amount higher than 1.1 the system will not boot. Then it loops until I power down the PSU, pull the memory from a1 + b1, then reboot, reset bios to default settings, power down PSU, then reinstall memory into a1+b1, then try the process ALL OVER AGAIN from square one. There are many random things that don't make a lot of sense like the voltage setting causing the bios to be unable to recover without the removal of memory. It just doesn't like many startup settings and you don't know what settings with cause the aforementioned infinite loop. The only way to find these settings out is trial and error. Unfortunately the bios reset jumper on the motherboard does NOTHING for me. I ran an old ASUS m5a99fx pro v2.0 for about 7 years and never experienced this level of unreliability. DDR5 memory does seem to run hot with this motherboard. I had to purchase a corsair memory cooler just to keep the fury beast ddr5 below 50c, which it does quite well. I am also running a NZXT h500i which isn't the airiest of cases. This motherboard does have plenty of connections for rgb, argb, fans, etc. It also has support for the newest generation of everything like M.2 gen4 etc. I run a 7.1 speaker setup so I prefer to have an on board audio solution that can support the speakers I have run across my living room. This MOBO serves that need well and the sound quality is a noticeable improvement over my previous asrock z96 extreme 4 mobo. Even with the issues I have experienced I would recommend this motherboard to people looking to get into the 12th generation THAT ALSO require on board support for 7.1 surround sound. I saw other boards I definitely would have gotten before the prime z690-p if they had 7.1 audio. I fully expect that the bios, drivers, and support will only improve as the technology ages and refines a little bit. As a result this means that it can only get more reliable (knock on wood). With this motherboard and other components I am confident that I have built a system that can and will be able to handle triple A titles @ 3840 x 2160 144hz for 5-7 years (hopefully). ... show more

  • Stylish, High-Performance Motherboard
I recently incorporated the ASUS Prime Z690-P LGA 1700 motherboard into my PC build, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance and design. This motherboard is a standout component, contributing significantly to both the aesthetics and functionality of my setup. The design and color scheme of the ASUS Prime Z690-P are particularly appealing. It has a sleek, modern look that enhances the overall appearance of my PC. This might seem like a small detail, but for enthusiasts who care about the visual aspect of their builds, it's a significant plus. Performance-wise, this motherboard lives up to the high standards set by ASUS. It offers excellent stability and compatibility, seamlessly integrating with other components in my build. The features and expandability options it provides are exactly what I was looking for, catering to both my current needs and potential future upgrades. In conclusion, the ASUS Prime Z690-P LGA 1700 motherboard is a fantastic choice for anyone building a PC. It combines style and substance, delivering great performance while looking good doing it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, aesthetically pleasing motherboard for their next build. ... show more

  • Clear instructions no surprises.
Fired up on first try. Nice setup utility. Had to send a different board back before I selected this one because there are so many variations and the Amazon listing are not clear. There are dozens of varieties for different memory speeds, CPUs, sockets, video etc. A matrix comparing wich board is unique for componets (DDR4 or DDR5 in my particular confusion) would have saved everyone time and money. There isn't even a consistent presentation of the features. This has not been improved in my 30 years experience. ... show more

  • DDR5 AND DDR4 Board! Get the DDR4 for the sake of your wallet
The two pictures included are my (purple) and my wife’s (default RGB) builds. She got the DDR4 version of the board after I realized I had ordered the DDR5 variant. If you’re building your first PC and aren’t ready to commit $400 to the cheapest set of DDR5 memory, I’d recommend the DDR4 variant. We both have 32gb of memory, only difference is the speed and price. Mine clocks in at 5200mhz (Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5) for $450 after tax, and hers clocks in at 3600mhz for $200 after tax. Performance wise this board is great. 4th gen NVME support is magical coming from an HDD. GTA V loads in under a minute in 4K whereas before I could walk away and do something while it loaded. I barely have time to login to discord and get into the correct channel before I’m loaded in. The GPU and CPU side of things are pretty stock and what you’d expect of a board in this generation of Intel. Just beware of your memory configuration! DDR4 will NOT work on the DDR5 board and vice versa. ... show more

  • Great!
Not the biggest fan of asus BIOS but a great motherboard otherwise!

  • Works as expected.
This board has been solid so far. Had a litle trouble getting the DDR5 6000 working at full speed but i expected that. After the latest BIOS update i was able to get it working correctly. I have not yet talked to Asus's Tech support so i rated it by a quick Google of their reputation.

  • it works but...
it works well but I can't believe how many different programs ASUS's Armoury crate has that need internet access. What's that about.

  • DOA. Wasted a lot of my time
I wasted a LOT of time and money on this, going through every component to see why it wasn't turning on, and buying extra things to try and diagnose. It turned on, fans lit up, but no display and no POST. Of course it was the motherboard - bent pins as other people have mentioned. The motherboard has NO diagnostics. No debug leds, and no chassis speaker. Unforgivable shortcuts. I bought some chassis speakers and plugged them into the speaker header but it didn't even beep to say there was a problem with the board. Replaced with an MSI, transferred all the parts over, and it booted perfectly first time ... show more
