  • Good for business travelers
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB 3.0
I traditionally work with a 49” widescreen monitor, but travel frequently for work so I need another screen so that I could still be mostly productive. This screen was a nice addition to my laptop. It works well with the included cable and needs no additional power source. 2 downsides to this monitor. 1. The included cable is USB 3.0 which can come disconnected easily. Given the USB-C has been around for years, it was disappointing to see that connection type. 2. The case that is supposed to double as a stand, is actually useless as a stand. I have never been able to get the case to function as a stand and had to purchase a separate foldable stand to use it with. Overall for the cost and functionality of the stand at its price point, it’s not a bad monitor from a trusted manufacturer. I would recommend it, but if you can find another monitor with a newer connection from ASUS at the same price point it might be better to go with that one. ... show more

  • Screen is great, stand leaves much to be desired
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB 3.0
The screen on this is great. Plug and play, easy to use. Quality's excellent. Does exactly what it says. The only downside is the stand. It's not a great stand. And it doesn't even work that great as a carrying case, so I'm not sure what they were thinking. It seems very much like an afterthought. Actually makes me a little nervous having this thing on the stand because there's really nothing mechanically locking the screen to...well, anything. There's not even much of a lip on the stand to hold the bottom from sliding off. Miraculously, it hasn't fallen off any tables or desks yet, but that "yet" is an important part of that. ... show more

  • It should protect from minor impacts just fine, maybe even a short drop
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB 3.0
Hmmmm. Three stars or four? First, I read every review and question I could find about how slim this is, and truly it is. Yet at no time did it occur to me to really notice the other dimensions. At 15", this will not fit an any of my three computer bags, and one is quite wide. So I have to carry it separately. I wish they would have at least put a little finger-tip handle on it given that it's probably too wide for most laptop bags out there. Docking it zero stars for that because it's my own dang fault. The info was there for me to see, but I was so lasered in on thickness and just assumed it would be "laptop size" overall. Maybe it is if you have one of those huge laptops that could be an end table if you added legs to the corners. Now the case, that's a more serious issue. It should protect from minor impacts just fine, maybe even a short drop. But Asus tells us that it doubles as a stand, and that means, to me, that it should double as a stand. I suppose that technically it does, but it is tricky to set up and very wobbly, especially in portrait mode. I have it set up in portrait mode right now, but ... please don't breathe while reading this or it might tip over. Also, because it uses the case flat on its side, the stand has a HUGE footprint on the desk. I sort of like the AOC (AOS?) design better where the stand folds out of the back of the monitor like a picture frame. So now I will ponder which convenience to sacrifice. Do I want a separate stand that is sturdy and doesn't take a huge part of the desk to use but that would be one more thing to carry? Or do I limp along with this that is shaky and bulky but is going where the monitor goes without any extra items. Time will tell. Also, the set up was a pain in the rear. Big. Pain in the rear. My laptop doesn't have a CD drive (having been manufactured post-2008, c'mon Asus!), but as soon as I plugged in - Windows 7, BTW - the drivers started loading. Hallelujah! Until I got the little popup saying that the drivers were not compatible something blah blah blah and directing me to the displaylink site to get more drivers. That took well over an hour. Between the download and the install, which I finally had to Task-Manager quit and start over, it stalled, it stopped, it mysteriously did nothing, it then moved a bit, but mostly it was the little processing circle just spinning and spinning endlessly. It bogged my computer down to a crawl and finally just froze up the whole dang thing. I had to shut it off using the power button and restart in Safe Mode. Upon start up, I got some message about further displaylink driver incompatibility and then WHAT? The monitor suddenly fired up and now is working. Zero idea what the heck happened, but here we are. Set up was also not easy - I'm mid-range techy and don't do well with things that I only do once in the lifetime of a device. Like setting up a monitor. That whole business about how the landscape/portrait mode is auto-detect? Where the screen gracefully rotates with the device? No. Not really. I had to go into my Windows Display settings and configure it as a second, extended monitor in portrait mode. Not a really big deal, but enough to consume another 25 minutes of my day and cause a slight burning smell from having to think so hard. So I knocked off a star for the monitor and the case combined. Truly I'd rather give it 3.5 stars because four seems like a lot. But I didn't go down to 3 stars because the monitor does what it's supposed to do very well. It's just the side issues that aren't great. But the screen is really clear - better than my native laptop screen, and it is big enough to make a meaningful difference in portrait mode as a second monitor. I've seen people using iPad-sized second monitors (for all I know, they could have been actual iPad), and although they look convenient, I was never sure if I could really use a screen that small easily and comfortably for a few hours at a time. This one will be a breeze once I get used to wanting it directly in front of me but then having the laptop keyboard off to the side. Still, it's really clear, might be the best-quality (resolution) monitor that I have, and might even be good enough for me to brave the tech obstacle course of using it as a video monitor when I don't need a second monitor for work (aka, never, but still might be cool to try). It feels solid as a rock and looks great. All in all, the monitor itself would be five stars, but the arduous connect/install/configure process plus the really lame "stand" are enough of a degradation to knock off a star. And measure your laptop bag before buying it! ... show more

  • Una buena pantalla para trabajar
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB Type-C Tripod Mountable
... show more

  • Loved for last five years
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB 3.0
I've had this monitor since December 2017 and it's been a great purchase. At first I used it only when traveling and even just for that it was worthwhile. It's a huge productivity boost. Recently I started using it a lot more when I go out to work elsewhere, now that I generally work from home. I had to buy a better stand and cable to make it more univery useful, but those were minor additions. 4 starts instead of 5 for that reason. The "stand" is the case and has very sensitive flaps to hold it in place. While working somewhere very stable like a hotel room it will be ok, but I usually still caused the monitor to fall over once or twice a day. While working out of the house at random places and coffee shops, the "stand" becomes useless. I bought a cheap portable tablet stand and that works great. The cable it comes with is both tiny and unusual. It works if you're keeping the monitor immediately to the right of your laptop and the laptop USB-C port is on the right side (like Mac pro), you'll need a longer cable. It's a USB 3.0 Micro. Easy to purchase on Amazon, but unlikely to be something you'll already have extras of (even if you're like me and horde cables). Power through USB is wonderful; only one cable and no batteries. ... show more

  • Very Nice USB Monitor, much better than I expected
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB 3.0
Liked the actual view presented. It looked a little dark to begin with even when I adjusted the brightness but in comparison to the laptop or the other HDMI monitors, it presented well. There could be more adjustments but it is very good as is.

  • Easy to use, great image quality.
Style: 15.6" IPS FHD USB 3.0
I love this. Very easy to set up. Image is great. Packs away easily on its case/stand. Has made working when I travel much better. Took me a few minutes to master making sure the monitor was secure on the stand. Overall very happy with my purchase.
