  • At first I was disappointed, but soon I was immersed & forgot all my nitpicks
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard Edition
The original Black Flag is one of my top all time favorite games ever. At first I was very disappointed in the new one, I hated the combat controls and the climbing, I even considered uninstalling it, but once you get deep into a good game the controls and things become automatic and you don't think about them any more, soon I was lost deep into the game, I forgot all my nitpicks and really started to enjoy it. I played the original game on xbox multiple times, its one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. Matter of fact I've played all the Assassins Creed games going all the way back to the 1st one on Xbox 360. At first I didn't like the new combat, it seemed too fast, less tactful and more of a button mashing frenzy than the original. The climbing seemed a little off too. But I got better at it, I got used to it and now they are all fine. I didn't like having to adjust the Y-axis for ever single little thing, it offers a lot of customizable options but it was really annoying to have to stop the game and go into the settings at least a dozen times before I figured out every Y axis setting. I usually don't have any issues with those settings but this game was driving me nuts. I'm a little disappointed that they took all the instant fail stealth missions, I did hate the old listening missions where you had to follow and listen from the rooftops where it was hard to keep up with the subjects movements, and you would fail if you got too far away, but I have very fond memories of sneaking into a camp and taking all the guards out quietly, then assassinating everyone else one by one, hiding the bodies so no one would discover me. Those missions were difficult and they took a long time, but the satisfaction of completing a difficult mission was worth it. Though you can still play the game that way, there is no incentive to do so. I feel like they made the game a little too easy by taking those out. After a hew hours I found myself deeply lost in the game world, and my little nitpicks were gone. That's when I really started to enjoy it. The sailing is great!, the graphics make it very immersive, and the fact that you can stop at any island, get off your ship and go exploring is one of the best features, and they do put things in the jungle that make exploring satisfying. I really like the hideout upgrading features, where you can greatly improve your private little settlement, I don't remember those in the original game, I must have ignored them because the benefits didn't seem that great, but in the new game you need to upgrade your town, and the benefits are significant. For example you cannot get the best ship upgrade unless you upgrade your Harbor master or you cannot buy the best goods and equipment if you don't upgrade your store. Also, with ship upgrades you get immediate results and satisfaction, they are well worth the time and money. Once your ship is maxed out you can take on any ship and money gets much easier. You have plenty of incentive to go out and make more money because they give you plenty of satisfying ways to spend it. I really enjoyed the original game and played the heck out of it, but I haven't played it in many years, because it lost its sparkle as newer and better looking games came out. Now I am reliving that great experience again in a new light. I started the game on Friday night and by Sunday night I was already 26 hours in, so I guess I can easily say it is worth it, and I really do like the new version of the game. ... show more

  • Just as beautiful as the day I lost you
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard Edition
I like many others, fell in love with AC starting with Black Flag. When it was announced I was so hyped and ready to play it on day one. I did hit a little snag at first. And that was the feeling that the controls for the camera were very sensitive and the wild camera swings were disorienting. However, after I lowered the X axis for the right analog stick, sensitivity to "2", it made it much better. I recommend doing the same. However the frame rate still was a little jittery and disorienting, so I chose "balanced" graphics mode. I usually like to play in fidelity of whatever the highest graphics mode is. But if your TV or monitor is 120HZ or higher, this is a wonderful solution. The graphics and lighting effects appear to remain just as nice, but because 40fps is an even division of 120HZ, the frame rate appears just as smooth as 60fps. After that my journey began. The best part of this game is just exploring all of the islands and cities and collecting every little collectable there is. Battling ships and looting reeles (money), wood, metal, and trade goods. You can then use those materials and money to strengthen up your ship. So it has a very fun RPG element to it. The same for hunting animals and making it so you can equip more bullets or berserk darts, makes the game even easier. So that grindy element is fun. The fact that the game is a beautiful Caribbean world makes it all the more amazing. The ship battles are fun, the graphics are beautiful, and the characters are generally likeable and well acted. It really shares the addictive nature of the Witcher III, in wanting to go to every little question mark or unexplored area, and do every little quest. If this is your first time, prepare to fall in love with modern AC, and do yourself a favor check out older games like AC Origins which takes place in ancient Egypt. Another one of my favorites. ... show more

  • Worth the price of admission
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard Edition
What many often call the best AC game and what I would say is the best Pirate Sim Ive played has been fully reworked to take full advantage of your PS5, or Series X-box. No folks, this isn't just a graphical overhaul on the same code. They have this running on their updated Anvil engine in completely new code, that makes it a full remake, not just a remaster. Many things were fixed from the community asking for it and Im telling you now, this may be the best looking Caribbean water you've ever seen in a video game. Some of the waves Ive seen while sailing are so massive. It stuck out to me because Ive never experienced being on a ship like that before in stormy high waves. Its recreated very well, how the water behaves like the ocean does and would. All you see is a wall of water in front of you. It also comes with 3 modes I especially want to point out to all my 120htz moniter peeps. It has both the usual fidelity & performance modes but if your TV, or monitor supports an 120htz refresh mode, you can take advantage of balanced mode (40fps) where the framerate isnt locked but never dips below 40. You get to see more of that excellent water effect they have built for this game + keep a decent framerate. Resynced is worth the price of admission for any RPG fans. Pirate fans. AC fans. Tight controls and killer animations, the parkour has also been reworked to feel smoother. Fun combat with a simple parry mechanic. The game is built for you to stealth until you get caught IMO. You will have an easier time if you play that way. Having the ship mechanic is totally what sets it apart, its done so well, fun, and looks killer on my 65" Samsung 8K with Nvidia G-sync built in. All games need a balanced mode so I can take advantage of it. I give Ubisoft all the credit for this balanced mode many other newer games dont come with. If you're on PC. First, welcome to my comment, Lord. Im not worthy.🙌 You can certainly crank the specs to your liking but I know nothing of the performance on PC. Im playing on Series X. Ive had 2 full crashes back to xbox dashboard but I just restarted and it was fine. I haven't seen any visual bugs or framerate dips, even when a lot is going on. I would say its ran fine for me on a Series X. Can't speak for PS5 except to say it will take advantage of the Anvil engine. It will look just as good, performance I cant speak on. Do it and thank me later. Its worth $60 easily for what you get. The best AC game ever made with all the bells & whistles of current gen to look pretty. ... show more

  • This is an amazing game!
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard Edition
This is an amazing game! I finished the main story in about a week because I was completely hooked. The storyline is interesting, the gameplay is fun, and the atmosphere is incredible. Even after completing the main story, there is still plenty to explore and many things to do in the game. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to any Assassin’s Creed fan. ... show more

  • What are you waiting for?
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard Edition
Now this is the Assassins Creed game I’ve been waiting for- the updated graphics and gameplay on Black Flag Resynced blew me away. I’m only slightly into the game and I’m having WAY more fun than I ever did in Shadows or Mirage. Zero complaints, this has to be one of the best games I’ve played in a long time. ... show more

  • Honestly, the original version is better
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard Edition
This is still a great game if you love Blackflag, and the graphics are awesome. However they change a few things that didn’t make much sense to me and the new content for me were pretty dull. I would recommend the original instead.

Classic Assasins, bought it as soon as I saw that they leave all the original mechanics and battle style. This should be the standard for the next ones.
