  • My Saving Grace!
For background, I'm a new runner in my late 30s, I've never worked out much and have been obese for the majority of my life until recently. I started on a weight loss and workout journey 5 months ago when I started really feeling a lot of the problems my doctor always warned me about being the weight I was. Because I was working from home through the pandemic and living a severely sedentary lifestyle, I was extremely weak and having to start from scratch, but was willing to work my way up. 3 months in, I almost gave up because I was having a lot of knee and feet problems running just a mile or two a day in my old cheap gym shoes. It was keeping me from being able to push myself and I was plateauing and feeling discouraged. A friend who also has high-ish arches suggested that I try Asics and I decided to invest - these cost more than I've ever spent on any pair of athletic shoes. My knee problems persisted for a couple of more weeks after I got them while they broke in, but I persisted along with lots of deep leg stretches - and something finally shifted. I still have to stretch my legs thoroughly every day, but I no longer have sharp pains that would plague me after every workout. I'm able to run much longer and faster and add weightlifting and other exercises on top. I love the solid arch support and how they cushion my every step, down to the toes, and my weight is very evenly distributed across my feet. I've already bought a second pair in black and white and will continue to buy more in fun colors. I have now lost enough weight to be out of the "obese" category for my height, and my bloodwork and other test results show that I'm already much healthier. These shoes have literally changed my life and I feel like a completely different person from who I was 5 months ago. I don't know how they compare to older models, etc., but these work for me and I'm really really really glad I bought them. ... show more

  • Comfortable Running Shoes
Good support for me (I’m an older runner and need sturdy support). They have good cushioning to help deflect foot strike shock to the joints. I recommend you try these shoes on in a running store first to get your size correct saves on returns.

  • Snug and so soft. Repeat customer.
Bought a pair almost a year ago and loved to softness of the footbed liner. Before that, I had a few pairs of Cumulus, which were not as soft. This pair felt incredible out of the box. Before tying laces, the heel was so soft and wrapped snugly. I’m a former distance racer, now 65 yr woman 5’9” 137 lbs doing about 10-12 miles per week and gym time on treadmill and elliptical. Have to limit mileage due to a couple of small bone spurs, osteoarthritis on top of tibia. PT and changing to a shorter stride length have saved me. I have a narrower foot with high arch, where most medium shoes are a bit loose-fitting. These felt like a soft hug for my feet immediately, just amazing. I was so excited , that my husband told me to take a quick run around the block, and it was so great!!! The previous pair wore very well, especially soles. Because of an injury from arthritis, I did more gym time than roads, but they held up from the road work, too. ... show more

  • My favorite shoes
I’m a dog walker so I go through shoes really fast. I have been buying ASICS for a while now and this is my favorite version of the gel nimbus. They feel great, nice and light, flexible, and the tight knit holds up much better than the mesh in other versions. My toe doesn’t wear through nearly as fast. The newer versions of the gel nimbus have a very chunky outer heel and I found them to be very disappointing to walk in. I wear custom insoles to support my feet, so I always remove the insole that comes inside, but it seems nice enough. ... show more

  • Sufficient Support for Plantar Fasciitis
I've been having such a hard time finding just the right sneaker for my plantar fasciitis. I've spent so much money on sneakers, insoles, wraps, splints, compression socks, etc. One thing I've learned over this year is that I need something that fits snugly around my achilles tendon. These sneakers are tight enough around the back. Also, they are very cushy on the bottom. I have high arch insoles which I could put into these sneakers, but it is debatable whether they are more comfortable than the cushy insoles you get with these sneakers. I've been ordering sneakers, trying them on and then returning them. I'm very happy to have found these! I ordered a size 9 and a size 9 1/2 so I could try both. I went with the nine and a half so I will have a little bit extra room for my big toe. I spent $80 for these and they are way better than the $150 Brooks sneakers I bought. I think these are really going to help my plantar fasciitis! ... show more

  • ASICS Gel Cumulus 2023 are like walking on clouds
I found out that the Nimbus is the only ASICS shoe that is more cushy than the Cumulus. That's OK, I'll stick with the Cumulous. They are supportive, have great cushion, and the toebox isn't overly wide (good for me). Snazzy color choices in each generation help too. If your work means you stand and walk a lot, investing in quality shoes makes a world of difference. I'm not a runner, but my choice of footwear in the ASICS Cumulus is crucial in getting me through long hours on my feet. May 2023 update: I have noticed that my feet have been fatigued wearing these 2023 versions. which I never experienced in previous versions of the Cumulus. I started to suspect that I had purchased knock-offs, so I ordered a pair of 2023 Cumulus directly from ASICS.com. Well, that pair has arrived and I can't find any signs that my AMZN purchase was anything other than the genuine article. Phew! Will have to look into other reasons for the foot fatigue. ... show more
