    • Comfy shoes but not convinced they're wide fit

I ordered a womans size 8W- and while the shoe fits my foot comfortably, I have serious doubts that they are a true wide fit (which is important for us wide foot girls). Its a lot snugger than I would like, even after breaking them in, and that's frustrating since the shoe DOES in fact fit my foot but they just won't relax around my foot... if that makes sense.... I think this is probably because the material of the shoe is tight (especially the heel, that thing DOESNT BUDGE). Good for if you want a very sturdy and unyielding walking sneaker. ... show more

    • A great, everyday sneaker
I’ve used the Gel Contend 98% of the time for the past 10 years, and other Asics before that. This is a great shoe for every day use. If you run a lot, look at the Nimbus or other top tier Asics depending on your foot type. These shoes are ”affordable” enough to buy every couple of months, when they expire (just as any sneaker). Now I also purchased these for my mother, a 75 years old woman with two knee replacements. They absorb impact well yet are very stable which can be an issue with higher end/dedicated running shoes. These strike a balance between everyday walking, yet would perform well running. The sole has that ‘hole’ in the midsole, keeping the ball of the foot in the air, preventing any direct impact from the ground. It also seems to spread the impact around it, across the edges of the sole. Also, the sole is much wider than foot which is great for stability and steering impact away from foot. They’re also breathable and have a good amount of material in the tongue which prevent discomfort from laces. I also notice that breathability comes in handy during winter preventing condensation inside the shoe when moving from cold to warmer weather inside a building/house. The sole is also made of a good, nos slippery rubber. Grips very well. My only con with this shoe would be that although it has some arch support, it doesn’t feel like a Nimbus, for example, that you can feel the shoe ‘hugging” your arch. I guess it could have more arch support but I assume that would also increase the cost. ... show more

I can always count on Aisics tennis shoes to fit perfectly and be comfortable. They are styles and hold up very well. You can choose from a variety of style and colors and they are all reasonably priced. These are my go to tennis shoes.

I run 2 or more miles a day. 2-4 times/week. My last running shoes began to hurt my ankles some months ago. i realized i was under-pronate and only wear on outer side of shoe. i needed a shoe that helps with this under pronation. i read this shoe helps with this. First the shoe is a beautiful shoe. I saw many reviews stating to order 1/2 size bigger which i did. BUT I really didn't need to as they would have fit my 8.5 size feet perfectly. The upper edges of the shoe are a little more rigid than my previous running shoes but I think this helps to stabilize and cause my ankle to run more of a neutral way. (as I was running on the outside of my foot due to previous shoes.) First run was 4.5 miles and it went well. I found that my ankles already have less pain. :) Super glad to get back to ASICS. I tried Saucony which were ok but also led me to becoming an under-pronator. :( I realize each persons running style, gait etc is unique and therefore my review is personal my own running experience. This shoe was good for a basic run. Not sure about very long distance running. It would also be a great shoe for work. And perhaps a gel insert if on feet all day. A great shoe. Arrived early.
