The GEL-VENTURE 10 shoe has been modified to provide better cushioning. Its functionality has been strategically designed for when you're shifting from the outdoors to city streets. The midsole has been modified with AMPLIFOAM cushioning and a higher stack height. When combined with the rearfoot GEL technology, these features help create a softer and more comfortable feel underfoot. Meanwhile, the outsole features an advanced traction pattern that's functional for the road and trail surfaces. Polyester upper and lining. Ethylene vinyl acetate insole. Lace-up closure in a round toe silhouette. Pull tab in front and back for easy entry. Synthetic rubber outsole.

I needed shoes to hike up Angels Landing in Zion. I decided on purchasing these instead of boots to allow a little more range of motion. I wasn't expecting much due to the price. Boy was I wrong. These shoes are durable. It can definitely take a beating. The material is sturdy, but lightweight. It seems to be water retardent, but not fully waterproof. The shoes also look pretty good. But most importantly, they were comfortable to wear. I was able to complete the hike with no issues. The shoes were grippy (a must when hiking on smooth sandstone) and did not impeded in walking. Just rubbed a blister on a bunion with a short walk in these things. The material is stiffer and has a more synthetic feel than previous versions. The Gel Venture 10 (as well as the 9) don't come close to the old 4, 5 and 6 versions (I've had them all). Unfortunately, Asics is the only brand that makes an x-wide shoe that really is x-wide, fits well, and wears well. If I can get these to stretch a bit in that seamed area that creates rough friction across the bunions, I suppose they'll be okay. But overall, I consider this a step down from previous versions. Update: After several long walks they finally appear to be stretching a bit and softening up. No pinching or blistering today after a three mile walk. Updating from a three to a four star (as if that really matters to anyone). But I want to be honest, and I really do like Asics shoes. Like I said before, they're the only ones that fit me well. Hoping Amazon gets a few of the other colors in the "out of stock" category back "in stock" soon. ... show more

    • They Changed the Sizing

This is my 6th or 7th pair of this model. I've been through several generations and absolutely love this shoe. I used one pair for almost a year for both exercise and every day wear and they lasted above and beyond expectations. Why the low review? Because they changed the width of the last they use. I bought my usual size of XX but on a 20km run they shredded my feet. I only notice the small difference in width size on very long runs. I contacted Asics and they said contact the seller, but more than a month had passed. All in all: great sneakers but be very careful on ordering your size ... show more

    • The new 10 version seems to be an improvement over previous versions
Size: 11 Color: White Sage/Black
I tried this newest Asics men Gel-Venture 10 trail running shoes. I also have the very old version of the Gel Sonoma (version 6) and the Gel-Venture 9 trail shoes to compare it to. It's possible I could be wrong and this could just be all my imagination, but the latest version (Gel-Venture 10) seems more comfortable, springy, and cushioned than the other two. (This despite the fact the 9 version came in better looking styles than the 10, in my opinion). The 9 seems to have a bottom part of the shoe that is a little too rigid and "clackety" on hard paved surfaces (though is fine if you're going to be hiking in the dirt). The 6 just doesn't seem to have any bounce; it's more than fine for just casual walking, but for jogging it seems kind of flat and dampened. The 6 and 9 are fine but not what I would consider really good. It seems like they have definitely made an improvement with the 10 version. At least for me, I seem to notice they are more comfortable. Great and getting close to a "perfect" shoe. ... show more
