I have always liked Asics products and I have two other pairs but this one excels. I never thought they could improve over their already excellent previous versions but they did. These are unbelievably light and very comfortable. As with all running shoes from any brand, I wish it had a much more accentuated arch support. I'm using expensive arch support solid inserts on these under the original removable inserts, as in all my other shoes. I have purchased a New Balance pair about a year ago and I still have it but they now feel very heavy compared to these Asics. Best running shoes I've ever owned, no regrets. ... show more

I don’t normally do reviews, but I think these sneakers deserve a solid review I’ve worn ASICS for well over 15 years. My favorite line they have is the Nimbus because they’re typically very squishy and comfortable yet supportive and firm enough to run in where your feet don’t get too tired. Once again, I thinkASICS hit a home run with the ASICS Nimbus 28. Sometimes I feel like if ASICS created a perfect mold for my foot this is them. (Nimbus 12 was the same for me. Absolute perfect fit most comfortable shoe. I think I’ve ever owned in my life went through three pair of them. ). These are just short of that perfect perfection. I wear a wide shoe and I’m somewhat in between the wide and extra wide. Within the first week, these shoes are starting to stretch out and formed to my feet rather nicely. If you like a sneaker to walk around him with plenty of support and comfort, these ought to do the trick for you. I took a brief run for a few miles and they felt great. the previous version of 27, there was something about them that just didn’t feel too right so I skipped that version and I had two pair of the Nimbus 26 and I even bought my wife a pair of the 26’ cause they were that good the 28s are good rivals for the 26s. The more I use the 28s I’m pretty sure I’ll say they’ll take the lead in this race of comfort. ... show more

    • Great shoe, but sizes tend to run small and narrow

I bought my first pair of ASICS Gel-Nimbus Running Shoes after having knee surgery in 2012. Not only did they allow me to resume running following the surgery, but they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, and I wear them all the time, even though I no longer run. I do have one small complaint. Their sizing is not always consistent. According to some reviews, the Gel-Nimbus 28s tend to run smaller and narrower. I found this to be true, and had to return the first pair I ordered. My 26s were 11-wide, but I had to get 11.5-extra-wide 28s to get a shoe that fit. And it wasn't just larger feet. I measured the width of the 11.5-wide 28s I received the first time, and found they were narrower than the 11-wide 26s I was currently wearing. So when you order, you might have to go up a half size and increase your width. Other than that, they are great shoes. ... show more

    • Trusty shoe - even though they are short lived

These are the ONLY shoes that my hubby wears. They are the only shoes that fit him well and help him with his plantar fasciitis. He wears them day in and day out. As for durability… he has to buy a new pair about every 3mo and that can get pretty expensive. He puts a lot of miles on them - often 20k steps a day so for most folks they would likely get more time out of them. They start to wear out and the bottom of the shoe will come loose and flap and one side of the shoe tends to wear fast then the other but I think that is unique to him. I wish he would find another shoe that might be a better value and last him a bit longer but he insists on this brand and this exact type of shoe - the gel nimbus… he started at 22 or something around there. ... show more

I've had three prior pairs of these kicks. These Gel-Nimbus 28s exceed all expectations. The newly designed tongue and rear pull are very well done. The comfort level is beyond my already high expectations. A great value and an exceptional-feeling, fitting pair of shoes.     • Very comfortable for longer-distance running.

I really like this shoe, and for the last four years or so I've just been buying ASICS Gel-Nimbus shoes over and over again when I put too many miles on my previous shoes. They're very comfortable and stable with their wide soles, and while I have arthritis in my knees I still run about 26 miles/week through the year and finish several 10k and half-marathon events each year. I should buy new shoes every 400-500 miles, or about two per year, but I absent-mindedly ran on my previous Gel-Nimbus shoes for over 13 months without trouble. I've recently noticed that I often accidentally step into ruts and potholes while running, but while this puts me off balance and almost trips me, I've never actually twisted my ankles when this happened on any of my Gel-Nimbus shoes. On my previous shoes before I switched to ASICS, I would occasionally twist an ankle under the same circumstances. I think that perhaps the wider soles of the Gel-Nimbus shoes helps shield me from injury, and keeps me going through the year without forced recovery breaks.
