Its as big as you can go and have it fit comfortably under the seat of the airplane, especially if the seats have that larger than average leg. The strap on the back holds it solidly on the handle of our carry on suitcase that we put in the over-head bin. I would say that I could travel for a long weekend easily in this, if packing a capsule wardrobe. I wish it had another small pocket on the outside front - that is the reason not 5*

This thing is AWESOME. I have to carry so much stuff around for my job and this backpack is going to make my life so much easier. It has so many pockets, it can be carried as a backpack or as a handbag (it has a handle on the side), it folds open like a suitcase so all your belongings are easily accessible, and it even has a spot on the zippers to include a lock.
