  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great printer with improvements needed
Color: Black
This printer just works and works fantastic, BUT, 2 things, it will not pause at height to allow color change (it hangs up and tech support says it doesn’t support it) and tech support is a joke, one day they tell me it just needs a firmware update to allow color change (pause at height) and the next person tells me it can not do it period! ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Runs great for a month.
Color: Black
This printer is awesome... for a month. I ran this thing pretty much non stop for 31 days with little to no issue... then the touch screen died. Out of Amazon warrantee... Contacted China tech support... after a week of testing and emails, was sent new boards and screen to replace... still not working. Will update. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great machine for the price.
Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. Everything seemed to work out of the box. It was fairly easy to assemble. Go slow and take your time. Don't rush. Make sure you level the bed. Their are some online guides to help calibrate and make it better. Of course you can customize this with different nozzles and parts. For a beginner machine, it works great. The size is nice and big for a variety of prints. One of the only things I wish is that the software was more intuitive for setup. There are lots of different softwares in the market and it all comes down to preference on which one you want to use. Some are more user friendly and others are able to be tweaked more. I'm happy with it. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read before you buy! - Experienced printer with honest review 9 months later
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. This will be long, but it will be worth it. It is a journey of 9 months with this printer and the good and bad. (mostly bad) I am an experienced printer and use a Prusa and an Anycube Kobra, as well as an Anycube Photon 4k. Out of the box set up: Very easy with instructions generally easy to follow. First test prints: 3 tries on test prints to get one that was successful with leveling and extruder issues that were adjustable. Next Prints: Did a couple of articulated prints to test the capabilities of the printer and had 2 successful out of 5. First problem. With the test prints done I started a larger project. However, I immediately received an M999 error with now reference to what it was.. (it was a bad bltouch) The support team is in China so after finding how to reach them and sending a ticket in, it took several days for them to get back to me and ask me to send them invoices and then pictures and video of the problem. They did not say, oh yes send me all these things in one email, it was something different in each email. They only check their email and respond in the middle of the night here basically so you take 2 weeks to have a 30 minute conversation. Long story short, they finally sent another bltouch. It was received within 3 weeks. so we are now on month 3 of our 3 month journey and have gotten one articulated snake printed out. The printer worked for about 3 weeks, I was able to get a bunch of test prints in different filaments and start to evaluate the capabilities of the printer and the larger build area. I then started one large project that came out beautifully, a picture is attached. After that print came out I have not been able to print anything else out. I started getting clogs in and on the heat block/break, which unfortunately is where the wires are on this model.. Makes no sense to me for them to be there because they will always get caught in filament clog that is repeatedly heated and cooled and it is impossible to get the clog out without taking the wires too. I know I know, always be careful when working in that area on ANY 3D printer. Like I said I have 2 other fdm printers and they are simply not set up with wires permanently attached to the heat block, my bad. So the wires were sent and replaced, another month at least so we are now into month 5 of this journey. I get nothing .... 4 failed test prints in regular pla and the system clogs so bad that it can't be fixed. Again , pictures and video and I am told that they can send me every part to rebuild the assembly or I can send it to a repair shop on their dime. So to the repair shop in Vegas it goes. I hear nothing from the shop for 3 weeks, I know it has been delivered. Then one day it appears on my door step.. As soon as it is set up and tries to run a test print (after being leveled and auto homed etc) the assembly just drops to the build plate and grinds every time it is turned on or a print is started or it homed etc. Another few emails and bought my own bltouch and replaced it and solved the grinding problem Another try at a test print and it fails and stops extruding filament, no matter what I do to clear the clog, I take the nozzle off replace, clean it boil it etc. Now support wants to see video and pictures again and find a whole new assembly on amazon. So I buy the new assembly and get it replaced to have it once again immediately have extruder problems. That is where I am now. Customer Service, while doing what they can are not authorized to issue replacement machines or refunds. The moral of the story.... don't buy this printer unless you enjoy working on it more than you do printing something out. I got ONE good print from this printer in 9 months. And the quality was fantastic. but ONLY ONE ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Most of these reviews are for the original Sidewinder
Color: Black
I’ve purchase three Sidewinder 2 printers. Two out of three have been great. I use them instead of my Prusa’s because honestly they’re better. One of the three I bought had issues with binding on the x axis. I didn’t want to try and fix it so I returned it. I would definitely recommend purchasing one of these over a printer with a Bowden style extruded. Direct drive is great and it works well on these. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Do not expect a ready-to-print configuration
Color: Black
If you want a tool, get something else. If you want something to dork around with 8 hours a day then this turkey! --- Hopefully I can get this working since it's been one issue after another, here are just a few of the highlights. Out of the box it was missing parts for the filament holder. Opened a ticket yesterday and have not gotten a reply from the company besides the autoresponder. Out of the box the cables were taped to the platform where the steppers needed to go, I totally crushed one of the connectors securing tha gantry, thankfully no damage was done. There are no instructions on what the tensions for any of the belts should be. Manual makes reference to files "on the USB drive" which do not exist. Package does not include flat cutters, nozzle cleaner, or any filament to get you going. But wait, there's more! Once you get it powered on you'll have to step through a very complex tramming process which will seem to shift even if you don't touch anything. Then presuming you were smart enough to pre-order filament you can attempt to print something. Several prints failed immediately before I was about to get it sticking to the plate. Finally I was able to produce a benchy in about 3 hours once it finally was sticking to the bed. I also printed a replacement filament spool since I still don't have a working one from the kit ( still no word from Artillery ). The next day I attempted another print with articulation ( octopus ). Spent 3 hours and was not able to get the first layer to stay down, always parts being knocked off the plate and shoved around. Releveled and used auto-leveling every time with no improvement. Was able to print on a raft finally but it would not break from the raft so that means a full 12 hours lost to failed print after failed print. I've tried e-step calibration ( seems to go back and forth between over and under extrusion ) without any change in behavior. I've tried other stl files and without fail, if the surface area on the bed is smaller that 1 cm/sq it _will_ fail within the first few layers. Larger surface areas seems to do fine but that also equates to longer print times. Larger prints will show z-banding, it can be quite unsightly. Anything over a few cm tall will have them. I'm really running out of patience and with each print taking several hours it's a colossal waste of time and energy. EDIT: Still trying to find the magic incantation to getting PLA to stick to the glass bed reliably. Manufacturer claims that the parts aren't missing, despite being in the manual. The way you put the rollers on is purely friction holding the mount together and the bearings are quite useless. Noticed a missing screw on the shroud as well but since it's pretty ineffective for part cooling I'll be replacing it anyways. EDIT2: Lowering to 1 star since it's been a while now and things are not getting better, in fact they seem to be getting worse. I'm now like 2 week in and it's still like pulling teeth, nothing comes off the pinter in one shot. It's out of level, it's out of z-calibration, need to tune retraction settings, need to slice again, isn't sticking, bed needs IPA, bed needs glue stick........ too hot... too cold. I got this as a tool and now 90% of my time is just reading manuals online and posting questions in chat forms because the prints just don't work. When things go wrong it's not something simple. Also as a technical note, it's got 2 z-screws and 2 motors but they cheaped out and only put in one driver, the two motors are wired in serial. The belt at the top actually causes z-banding because if the tension it puts on the system. You can remove the belt but then you have to re-level the gantry occasionally. EDIT3: Was making some forward progress and now the y-axis has failed completely. It appears as through they have used superglue to secure the drivers and wiring so short of replacing the whole mainboard it's impossible to service. ... show more
