First off the boots look and feel fantastic and are well made. The soft flexible upper and outside seams make them very comfortable. My college frat boy son is 21 and he went crazy over them and wants a pair exactly like them. Ok for the size issue. The Rambler has a square toe which is about a half size more room in the toe area, than the size would be normally. I wear a 9 D in all my casual and/or tennis shoes, but all my dress shoes are either a 8 ½ D or 8 ½ E. I also have a pair of Dan Post snake skin boots from the 80s and they are 8 ½ D as well. So if you are like me and wear a couple different sizes, base your purchase on a dress shoe size….then adjust. Now, for picking the size. Like I said, I based the size on my dress shoe size of 8 ½ D, then I ordered ½ size smaller and with the EE (8EE). I was really concerned with ordering the 8 EE, but saw too many reviews saying to step down ½ size and get the wide EE. I have never worn an 8 in any shoe, but it was a perfect snug fit with long dress socks. Wore them around the house inside so I could return them if I had to. Well after three days, they are really feeling good, still a little snug on arch on my left foot but not to and extreme. They don’t look or feel like a size 8 either, they look like a size 9 or larger from the appearance. So I agree with other on the Rambler: ½ size down and EE is perfect. ... show more

Every other review i have seen on here talks about the sizing. Everyone suggest ordering a size or half size smaller than they normally do. Do yourself a favor and go to a place that sells western boots and try some boots on. the proper fit for a western style boot is supposed to be snug around the arch /top of your foot with your heel in the cup, and with about a thumb worth of space at your toes. that goes for pointed, round or squared toe. I have worn cowboy boots, fancier dress style western boots, and even work styled cowboy boots. That's the fit, your foot shouldn't slide around, it should be snugged and secured in the boot. These boots I ordered true to my 11.5 size i get all my other shoes in and they fit like a dream. the color was great, the finish on the leather was great. If you're reluctant to get them based on reviews, I say get them. I'll update my review in like 6 months when they are broken in fully. But so far about a week into owning and wearing them daily? Size: 8.5 Color: Earth/Brown Bomber
These are my first pair of cowboy boots. I followed the majority of the reviews and ordered 1/2 size smaller than my usual size. Width runs pretty narrow. I almost wished I had ordered them wide, but after a good break in period they're feeling great. I was concerned that they were maybe a little long still, but I read that the most important part of cowboy boots is that the ball of your foot lines up with the widest part of the sole, and that the boot holds your arch and instep like a firm handshake. These line up just right and even a 1/2 size smaller than what I ordered probably wouldn't. The "firm handshake" fit was very firm at first, but after a bit of break in these are feeling great, like a nice old pair of sneakers. The look is fantastic. Not out of place at anything up to dressy casual. Bottom line: these boots are built great, look great, and if you follow the majority advice of "1/2 size smaller" you won't be disappointed. If you have a slightly wide foot or don't want to bother with as tough of a break in you might want to go with a wide, but unless you're truly a wide size I'd recommend sticking to normal width and being patient with the break in. ... show more

Purchased the Wicker in size 9 Wide. My husband wears: Nike 9.5 Timberland steel toe work boots 9.5 wide Timberland hiking boots 9.5 wide Business/dress shoes 9 wide or x-wide Due to some of the reviews stating they ran large I already ordered a 1/2 size down from his typical boot size. They ended up still being 1/2 size too large. There was extra length at the toes and his foot was loose at the heel. Width was perfect. He'd need and 8.5 Wide for a comfortable fit. Leather is good quality, thick but pliable. The shaft is soft enough that even new it already feels broken in. Quality is great and I'd recommend if you can find the right fit. **UPDATE: Went to a western boot store and tried on the exact same boots. My husband is definitely a 9 Wide in this boot so I can't explain why the same size pair on Amazon fit larger. Possibly factory second or incorrectly sized, don't know. That being said, the 9 Wide were still 1/2 size smaller than what he typically wears in boots. ... show more
