The original struts on our 2005 Gulfstream Endura RV were barely adequate to begin with and over the years have lost their oomph. I got tired of the lids coming down on my poor old noggin while accessing storage, generator and all compartments. One thing to note, the originals are rated at 40 lbs and these are rated 60 lbs. Due to the way they are mounted, there is little mechanical leverage so the extra pressure helps. Now for the tricky part, the originals were 1 inch shorter than these but they can be mounted since when the original strut is removed the lid will easily go higher to accommodate the extra length, however if the compartment is located under a slide out, the strut will have to be installed with the slide out in the retracted position otherwise the compartment lid may hit the underside of the slide out. This difference in length was my choice, so no reflection on the manufacturer or the Amazon listing. Also, be sure the compartment lids are down and latched when opening and closing slide outs, something I'm sure we are all aware of, being expert RVers.

Struts are an easy 3 minute installation and are an affordable and perfect fit to replace the original Master Lift struts on my 2019 SnugTop camper shell. The Arana struts lift the back window very positively and work as well as and possibly slightly better than the originals. The originals lasted about 4 1/2 years before getting a bit "lazy" and time will tell how well the Arana struts last.
