    • Use instead of sand
I don't see a reason to use sand when you can use these filters. They work great and for the same cost of sand, it's definitely worth it! Just throw them in and your done. I do wish they came with a bag for easy cleaning though

    • Nice pump/filter combo but seems underpowered for 9K gallons + pools.
There are some nice features with this pump/filter combo. I like the fact that it comes with the built-in timer and that you can set it to run every day at that time. Aquastrong makes some decent pumps even though the chassis is made from plastic. It is UV resistant plastic that seems like it will hold up for quite some time. The filter tank seems to be quality materials as well. There are some things to be aware of as potential downsides depending on how you look at it. For starters, it doesn’t come with sand or the filter balls that you can use as an alternative for sand. The other is that at 2/3HP it seems to be a bit underpowered from what I’m use to for any pool that’s above 9K gallons. Being underpowered can cost you long term on your electric bill, which can start to add up. That is especially true since this pump is a 110V instead of a 220V. Think about it, in order to cycle a pool of 9000 gallons completely, it has to run for a minimum of 3 hours. They have a similar item that is a 1.5hp that does 8100 gallons per hour. That setup is about $100 more than this one. Just something to think about for those with larger pools. ... show more

    • Better Than Sand!
Lightweight and very easy to clean. These are better than using sand any day. My water has stayed so clear with very little maintenance. Easy to put in the filter and I dump them directly into my washing machine. I also use a few of these in my re-chargeable pool vacuum in the filter area, works better than anything I have tried for that as well. ... show more

Balls work great but not easy to clean, these are cheaper than sand but need to be cleaned, not sure they will be good for second season
