this is the 3rd (and hopefully LAST) dongle i needed to buy in order for my 2016 macbook (with touchbar) to share my screen with all the different attachments in all the meeting rooms at my work. i got this for the VGA port, the other two ports are totally unnecessary. some meeting rooms have a VGA cord, which already had a "VGA to mini-display port" adaptor hooked up to it. when i then tried to plug my "usb-c to MDP" into those 2 chained dongles, it wouldnt work. now i unplug the "VGA to mini-display port" and plug the VGA straight into this dongle and it works! i only needed $200+ in dongles to get my new macbook to work in all the meeting rooms with display TVs at my work. good job apple!

You cannot return it if you made a mistake and purchased it. I was led to believe the VGA mode would allow my iPad Pro to display in second screen mode and found out it wont with an App called Sidecar( which my employer's IT dept does not allow the software to be installed on the device). Now, I'm stuck with something i cannot use.

There’s a power option on one side you only use this usb c-powered when you are using a ipad with c-powered conection. The mac itself has enough power for it to work. I tried a belkin mark hdmi to vga adapter but it didn’t work.

Kind of large, and not very Apple-sexy to have this bulky thing coming out of your sexy macbook...but, I think the idea is that you're not using it often...and that's what I'm finding. I'll really only use this when I'm traveling, and need to charge my iPhone next to it...or when I'm presenting/training. Otherwise, it stays in the bag. One thing I wish was different? WHITE?! My macbook is not white - wish this was metallic, and looked more like my space gray macbook. And less like a plasticky 1999 iMac accessory :)
