  • Extremely Light, Clean, and Perfect for a Mac Desk Setup Extremely Light, Clean, and Perfect for a Mac Desk Setup
Style: USB-C
I bought the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID to replace my Zoom65 V2, and for my situation, it ended up being the better keyboard by a lot. My desk has to serve two different roles. Most of the time, it is my study and Mac setup. When I want to game on my PC, I swap over to my Wooting 60HE and Finalmouse. Because of that, I need my Mac keyboard to be compact, easy to move, and practical. The Magic Keyboard is extremely light, and that matters more than I expected. I can move it out of the way instantly when I need more desk space or when I switch from my Mac setup to my gaming setup. My old Zoom65 V2 was a much more enthusiast-focused keyboard. I liked the marbly sound a lot, and I will miss that part of it. But it was thick, heavy, and harder to move around. It also felt larger than it needed to be for my desk. The Magic Keyboard is much thinner, much lighter, and much easier to live with every day. The layout is also more practical for Mac use. Even though it is compact, it still gives me the function row and Touch ID. Compared with my old 65% custom keyboard, it feels like I am getting more useful Mac-specific functionality in a cleaner and thinner footprint. I included a photo of the Meletrix/Zoom65 so buyers can see the size difference compared with a typical custom 65% keyboard. Touch ID is one of the biggest reasons I chose this keyboard. I have an Apple Watch, and it is good for unlocking my MacBook, but it does not fully replace Touch ID. For some password prompts, using the watch is slower because I still have to double-click it. For other things, like inserting passwords in Chrome, my Mac still asks for Touch ID or my password. That is when I realized that my next keyboard needed Touch ID built in. Before buying this, I would leave my MacBook lid open just so I could use the built-in Touch ID sensor. It worked, but I did not like keeping my MacBook open all day just for that. It took up more space and made the laptop collect dust. Having Touch ID directly on the keyboard solves that problem. I am still not sure Touch ID alone is worth the full upgrade cost for everyone, but I bought this used for $130, and at that price I think it will pay for itself over time. I do not use Touch ID constantly, but when I need it, I am always glad it is there. The typing experience is also better than I expected. It is not going to beat a custom mechanical keyboard on sound, and the Zoom65 definitely sounded better. But I usually wear headphones when I use my Mac, so sound does not matter as much as comfort, weight, and convenience. The Magic Keyboard is quieter, lower-profile, and more comfortable for long productivity sessions. For gaming, I still prefer a dedicated gaming keyboard like my Wooting 60HE. But for studying, work, browsing, writing, and everyday Mac use, this feels like my endgame productivity keyboard. It is not the most exciting keyboard, but it is one of the most practical ones I have used. Overall, I would recommend it if you want a clean Mac setup, a very light keyboard, Touch ID, and something that is easy to move around. It replaced my custom keyboard because it simply fits my real setup better. ... show more

  • Of course, had to do it...
Style: USB-C
This is a perfect integration with my new Mac Mini. I added the trackpad and a portable HD screen and I now have a laptop equivalent. Having TouchID on the keyboard is great to quickly get back to Mac without stopping to type a passphrase. The size and construction is perfect (I might seek a slip cover for portability). Charging is rarely needed (I've had this for quite a while and only charged it once (to see how long it would take, but to be fair, the battery was at 80% so I don't really know how long it will last before needing a full charge) the connection is fine and charge speed seems fast). It looks like this should out last the computer it's connected to (and maybe the next). Yes it is pricey, but SO nicey. ... show more

  • Great Apple Product
Style: USB-C
Even better than the already-great MBP keyboard. Both have Touch ID. I will also not miss the Touch Bar

  • Apple quality
Style: USB-C
What can I say about Apple other than they are high end quality on all their items. I have everything Apple in my house and this is the second small keyboard I bought: this one for my new Mac Neo as I also have one with my MacBook Air M4. Yes, they are a little pricey but so worth it. I have both with Touch ID and I love that feature. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • worth the Apple premium price; touch ID is worth it, too
Style: USB-C
Well worth the premium cost, given the build quality, near-silent operation, seamless integration with Apple ecosystem, and comfort. I have Touch ID on my Macbook Air, but having it also on this keyboard is a major plus. Even if you don't type a lot, this keyboard's feel and responsiveness are delightful. It looks great, too. ... show more

  • Apple keyboard with Apple Mac mini. It just works, and like Touch ID
Style: USB-C
I tried a third party Satechi keyboard and after a few months it started dropping key strokes. So I decided since my M 4 Mac mini supports Touch ID I would buy the Magic Keyboard. I like it well enough it's more expensive but I became a fan of Touch ID on my MacBook Air. Soon as I turned the keyboard on it paired with my Mac mini. That's really part of the benefit you get with Apple hardware. I do miss the Satechi backlit keyboard, but the tactile feel is a little better with Apple keyboard. ... show more

  • Efficient, good looking and compatible with Silicon computers
Style: USB-C
I bought this keyboard due to its compatibility with my new Silicon iMac. For me, Apple products have always worked well. The keyboard is good looking and small, taking up less desktop space. The typing is precise with just the right amount of pressure to affectedly depress the keys. Not too much pressure needed and no wobble. Battery life seems reasonable. I don’t turn it off, and it takes about many days before I recharge it. I expect long term, excellent use from this keyboard. It is an Apple after all! Highly recommended. ... show more
