Make sure you check your Apple model to see if the touch ID is compatible. I had an older MacBook Air with a touch ID, but this keyboard was not compatible with that generation model. However once I upgraded my MacBook, the touch ID worked perfectly. So, I want to emphasize: make sure your Apple model is compatible with this Touch ID keyboard!!

My MacBook Pro keyboard stopped working and was going to be $850 before tax to fix it. I did not think it was worth that for my 3 yr old MacBook pro. This keyboard sets overtop my broken keyboard fitting perfectly. I tuned it on connected and tada its working. The layout is identical to my broken keyboard, and I can continue using my trackpad. The feel is similar also. I would not want to write a book with it, but for my purposes, its perfect.

Small footprint. Aesthetics are nice. Key action is respectably smooth, but still with good feedback. I sometimes wish I got the one with the number pad, but that's rare. My main gripe is that the battery seems to die faster than the magic track pad, and BOTH of them take FOREVER to charge. They are both the lightning cable/port models, so maybe this has changed with the changeover to USB-C. I just want them to charge like 4x as quickly compared to what they do. Otherwise I love it.
