For $178 I was able to get a black keyboard, backlit keys with a touch pad for a brand new 11 inch iPad Air. The only keyboards offered at the Apple Store when I bought my new iPad Air were white and no backlit keys. What?! I did not like the new keyboard at all so I returned it and bought this one. I am very happy with it! It is used-like new (I guess refurbished). The first one I got had sticky keys. Did not perform well at all. I guess I got a lemon. So I’m returning it. I ordered a second one right away and it is perfect!!! So glad I didn’t give up on what I really wanted—Black with backlit keyboard. So glad I could still get one since they don’t make them anymore.

The media could not be loaded. The Apple Magic Keyboard has completely changed how I use my iPad. The ease of use is outstanding it attaches magnetically in seconds and feels incredibly intuitive. The keyboard functionality is top-notch, with well-spaced keys and a smooth, responsive typing experience that feels just like a laptop. I was skeptical about spending this much on a keyboard for my iPad, but after using it for a while, I can confidently say it’s worth it. The typing experience is fantastic - the keys feel responsive with just the right amount of travel. The trackpad is smooth and makes navigating iPadOS feel more intuitive, almost like using a MacBook. You can also use multi-finger gestures like you would on the iPad screen, which is pretty neat. Like any other Apple product, it’s beautifully designed. I got the white version, and surprisingly, it’s been easy to keep clean. The floating design is great for adjusting angles, though it does add a bit of weight. That said, the stability is impressive, and the magnetic attachment is strong. One downside is that it offers no protection for the edges of the iPad, so if you’re prone to drops, you might need to be extra careful. It’s also not the best for long sessions on your lap, but on a desk, it’s perfect. If you use your iPad for work or a lot of typing, this keyboard transforms it into a much more functional device. Just be prepared for the premium price tag.

The quality itself is top notch- the materials used, the typing feel etc is unbeatable. I use my iPad as my personal laptop as well and this is where the Magic Keyboard comes real handy especially given how it takes up so little space and can really be useful for those who type with the iPad on the lap. A few kinks- not having a function key is a big one. I bought it knowing this didn’t have the function key row, but I find myself repeatedly search for the volume key, escape key ( although you can modify an existing key to be an esc key, we are habituated to looking for an esc key on the top left). The key board is great for little to moderate use. However, if you need to do a lot of typing etc know that it is a cramped keyboard and your fingers can feel the cramp - it is not uncommon to hit the bottom of the screen as you type.I however use it for my occasional use- one odd email, basic browsing etc for which this is perfect. I read all reviews that mentioned with this case on, the iPad is going to be heavy and I still under estimated how heavy it would get. For a portable device, this keyboard is indeed very heavy. The keyboard +case also does not provide any protection whatsoever at all to the sides of the iPad which is a big downer for this prize so be prepared to invest in an additional case which is an additional investment. The extra charging C type port( note this does not support data) is a big plus and the floating look is very stylish. Overall, I still love it for the looks, the premium fit and finish and the quality of the typing experience along with added C port. But I’d only rate it as good and not excellent because for the price it is sold, I’d expect it to not have a majority of the flaws mentioned above. I bought knowing these issues and there isn’t a like for like alternative , hence a happy camper!
