Description

Apache is the 2016 album from multiple Grammy award-winner Aaron Neville - member of the world-renowned Neville Brothers and one of the most recognizable voices in American music history. Apache comes on the heels of 2013's album My True Story, which earned Aaron his first Top 10 album and highest-charting set of his five-decade career ( 7 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart). Apache celebrates Neville's 75th birthday and marks the 50th anniversary of his first number one single, "Tell It Like It Is." The album was recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn, produced by multi Grammy-winning artist and producer Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce, Tedeschi Trucks Band). In addition, elite NYC musicians David Guy (Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Menahan Street Band), Cochemea Gastelum (Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, The Budos Band), Ryan Zoidis (Lettuce, Soulive) and Eric Bloom (Lettuce, Blue Öyster Cult) throughout.

  • Tell It Like It Is
Excellent work, as always, by Aaron Neville. His angelic verbrato works especially well with his choice of songs on this excellent cd. He's not lost much of his rich tone--how many years has it been since, Tell It Like It Is. 1966! That's a fifty year anniversary! His new song from this new cd, Stompin' Ground, is every bit as good as any of his hits through the years. He's still got it and tellin' it like it is. ... show more

  • Voice of an angel...
Voice of an angel...I know that probably gets said way to often about this man...but hell its the truth and the variety of tunes on this cd are great...always a gem!

  • Bye Bye Spotify playlists-- I'm listening to this album over and over again
I kind of lost touch with Aaron Neville over the years. I don't know his complete body of work, but the last album I listened to, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, made me wonder what happened to this guy. The gravitas wasn't there, so I moved on. When I crave a singer songwriter leading a big band, I prefer D'Angelo. Then I read somewhere that this new Aaron Neville album is reminiscent of his best work, so begrudgingly, I listened to it, expecting a little pining and cheesiness. Wrong. This album would be a classic if this was released by a rising young artist. Apache is unapologetically New Orleans but is so good that it's broader than that. The catchy hooks, the lyrics, the arrangements, the freaking horns, his voice... I can't believe this album is this good. There's a basketball cliche about "letting the game come to you", which means that it should slow down and a player shouldn't rush. This album encapsulates that concept. In an age of Spotify, I'm off my playlists and instead find myself playing this entire album over and over, like the good ole days. Thank you Mr. Neville for a classic. ... show more

  • Aaron Neville is better than ever!
This music is great! I have followed New Orleans music for 20 years. I had low expectations with Mr. Neville being 75. I was WRONG! This is one of his best. I saw him in concert in Atlanta shortly after I bought the CD and the man looks fabulous! New York had been the fountain of youth for Mr. Neville. Love it! Love it! Love it! ( and no, I am not related to him!!) ... show more

  • My favorite singer
My favorite singer, he has this fantastic voice. I had difficulties buying this record in Europe and I was told that there was not a good distribution system. The main thing is that I have the cd. I have to admit that I think he has done better, but he is still the best. Enjoy listening to this cd.

  • This one not my favorite!
I'm rather disappointed after listening to this cd. Vocal is ok but not the music-they were too noisy. I'd prefer those like raining day in Georgia music. I bought many cds of Mr Aaron.

  • Another great for Aaron!!
This is another great Aaron Neville CD and he has written a lot of it which makes it even better. His voice is still beautiful at 76!! Highly recommend!! Aaron is a great musician and human being.
