  • A solid large Intermediate 3D printer. Some tips for future buyers in my review
A great step for those ready to move up from smaller 3D printers to a larger printer. Requires some assembly and little patience to setup but the 3D printer is solid and heavy. Make sure you don't miss any power couplings or any zip ties and you should do fine. For some reason I became the 3D printing troubleshooting guy at my business so I copied some trial and error tips I sent in various emails here in case someone has questions or experienced the same problems others did. ========== Problem: I installed Cura that came with the printer and I don't see AnyCubic Kobra Plus in the Cura selections. Answer: I used AnyCubic Kobra Max for my stand test in my photos but if you don't add in the size of the plate manually the print will be off center. I included sizing options below. [What I did to add Kobra Plus manually in Cura ver.5.2.2] Step 1: Open Ultimaker Cura -> Add Printer -> Add Non-Networked Printer -> Scroll down to AnyCubic -> Select Anycubic Kobra Max -> Rename to Anycubic Kobra Max Plus (named with Plus so it's easy to find but I guess you can name it whatever you want) -> Click Add Step 2: Open the drop down -> Click Manage printers -> Click to highlight Anycubic Kobra MaxPlus -> Click Machine Settings -> Change the following size values to the following: X (Width): 300.0mm, Y (Depth) 300.0mm Z (Height) 350.00mm. Then click X to close. Problem: When I print anything the touch screen panel goes dark and it looks like the 3D printer froze. Answer: Look at the back (I took a picture of it) Turn the 3D printer off first and flip the voltage switch from 230V to 115V. That will fix many freezing dark screen problems. Problem: My plate squeaks sometimes when the 3D printer is running normally. Answer: Check under the plate, there is a large zip tie tied under the plate that can be easily missed. I'd advise you to stop your print, let the plate cool and carefully cut this large zip tie because that squeaking is because it's rubbing on the plate belt and you don't want that to wear down your belts and ruin your 3D printer. Look twice and cut once, there is a belt under there, be careful what you cut. Problem: My 3D print is done but it's hard to get it off the plate. Answer: Using a paint scrapper helps but I'd first let the plate cool before very carefully scrapping at the edges of the base of your print. I never did the tried and true method of putting duct tape on the plate for my 3D printer but it's worth a shot if you have time. ... show more

  • Decent Performance, But Comes With Its Fair Share of Issues
TL;DR Buy the Bambu Labs printer instead, more bang for your buck. I purchased the Anycubic Kobra Plus with a fair amount of anticipation, given its promising features and specifications. Now, after several weeks of use, I have a mixed bag of impressions and of course it's too late to return the printer. Then on top of that the Kobra 2 plus comes out a week after I made this purchase. I know this is a me problem but at the time I had just had a new born so I had no time to really get a chance to play around with this printer and before I knew it, I could not return it. The printer's build volume is impressive, offering a generous space for larger projects. This was one of the key selling points for me. The initial setup process was relatively straightforward, although the instructions could have been clearer in some areas, especially for beginners. Print quality, once dialed in, is decent. The printer is capable of producing detailed prints, but getting to that point required more calibration than I expected. The auto-leveling feature, while a nice addition, doesn't always work as seamlessly as advertised, often requiring manual adjustments. The main drawback of this printer is its reliability. I've experienced several instances where prints failed due to extruder clogging and filament feeding issues. These problems seem to stem from the design of the extruder and the filament run-out sensor, which can be finicky. On the software side, while compatible with popular slicing software, I found that the provided slicer profiles are not optimal and require tweaking for better results. There are basically no profiles for the Kobra plus at all. In conclusion, the Anycubic Kobra Plus is a printer with potential, especially considering its build volume and print quality. However, it requires patience and a willingness to troubleshoot. If you're new to 3D printing or looking for a printer with minimal setup and consistent performance straight out of the box, you might want to consider other options. ... show more
