They are braided, flexible, and reinforced at the connector. Because they are for me, and I take care of my cables, I was able to get some inexpensive ones. I didn't need to get the high end cables that I get for my daughter's because they eat lesser cables for breakfast. Still, these cables feel well made, like all the Anker products I own. There is a large surface to grip the connector so that I do not have to pull on the cable to remove it from a phone. I purchased this item specifically to transfer photos from my cell phone to my desktop computer. It works very well. I don't know about the durability of this product, because I just received it and used it today. My desktop computer for some reason would not allow me to transfer photos from my cell phone via any of the computer's USB-B ports. So, I thought perhaps a work-around would do the trick. And, indeed, it does. The USB-C to USB-C connection works very well. A little thicker than other charger cords but I think it is made that way for durability. Charger locks into phone fine and is not loose. Time will tell if the cord starts to fray. Anker is a more legitimate company of the Chinese companies so hopeful the cord stays legit.
