    • It's really not waterproof.

As soon as I saw that this was waterproof, I was eager to buy it to use indoors. I would have rated more stars if it was actually waterproof. The design is fine for what it is, and the back of it doesn't soak through. The seams are not waterproof. The edges can absorb water and eventually damage a indoor walls if it's placed directly against a wall. The small "waterproof" pouch at the bottom leaks. It does help to catch water, but it has a small capacity and will still drip out of the bottom at the seams. I hung this up with two ceiling hooks screwed into the wall, so that it hangs about an inch or two away from the wall. This prevents moisture from directly touching my wall. Below it I have a small tray and potted plants to catch water drips. Don't overfill it with soil, it makes it harder to water. Water carefully towards the back of the pouch to prevent water from running out from the front of the pocket. Water just as much as needed, any excess water will just drip out. This type of planter works great for many kinds of plants. Some plants may not thrive as well in a pocket planter. Obviously use your best judgement and provide ideal soil, sunlight, and planter conditions for your plants. ... show more

I bought these do to plant bareroot strawberries on my balcony. Sturdy enough and the grommets are holding, but the water and consequently the dirt run out of the front of the pocket when watering. I've had to water carefully. It does dry out faster than a conventional pot or a grow-bag of the same material on the ground so you have to keep a close eye on how the plants are doing. I've lost a few plants from how fast the dirt dries out and had to top up the dirt in the pockets a few times, but overall it's alright for the price but not amazing. ... show more

Over all I am pleased with this product. It is definitely NOT water proof though. If you have it inside you will need to make adjustments. I am in the process of making a green wall in my house. My health keeps me from enjoying my outdoor garden very much so I am bringing my garden indoors. I used a trellis to hang the planter on so that it would not touch the wall and I have something to catch the drips from underneath. I just use a tote top for now plus a fern for now. I am working on ideas for a planter to put underneath to make that look nicer. So far the house plants are doing well in it. ... show more

I have a small apartment patio and thought these planters would be perfect. I’m working on planting my seedlings now and I think this product is exactly what I needed! Nice and sturdy. I truly thought the product was larger when I ordered it, so unfortunately I may need to replant my herbs in the future depending on how many seedlings persevere. But good for now! My one complaint is that the hangers came only with zip ties to hang them. I ended up buying a pack of flat S hooks from Amazon to hang them from my storage door, so no biggie. I’ll throw the zip ties in my junk drawer. I love how many pockets this has. I would LOVE to see a horizontal option for the wooden beams on my patio. ... show more

I gave my grandson this for Christmas. He wanted to grow things but it’s hard to do so in Florida because the bugs destroy everything. I knew my daughter would rather not have her son digging up the yard and bringing in all that mud into the house. So I thought this was an answer. Attached to the chain link fence limits the bugs who will find it. It also prevents the mud mess. He can plant, water, and maintain the plants without getting muddy which makes my daughter happy. I asked he what he would write for this product review and this is what he wrote, “Before I got the vertical garden I couldn’t grow anything because the bugs were killing my plants. but the pockets are so small I'm not quite sure what i can even grow in this thing. I currently have herb seedlings that I've started growing in there but I'm reading now its probably best used for succulents. anyways its a cute idea and I'm still pretty happy with it!

I like this and will buy more. This is the smaller of the two in this photo. It was planted today, Aug 7, 2021. I will add a photo in a month. The pockets are not as deep as the first and it is smaller. I'm experimenting with plants that will work best. It is a very affordable option for the amount it adds to an area. I've learned: do not put the soil very deep. The pouches tilt forward when watered, I folded the plastic from under the bottom pouch as it held too much water. ... show more

    • Great idea, but not sure my plants like it

Bought this to grow some herbs on a back patio. It seems sturdy, and I love the idea. My main problem is that it's tricky to water. All the water just pours off the surface and out the front before it can be absorbed by the soil. For this reason I definitely wouldn't use it in indoors, as you'd get water everywhere. I've been able to prop it on an angle and slowly dribble water, which seems to work, but only about half the plants seem to be doing well. The mint and oregano seem happy, the thyme is doing ok. However, I had to take the basil and chamomile out and plant them elsewhere before they died. I might need to do the same with the rosemary. Again, a great idea but I'm glad I didn't jump the gun and buy two. ... show more
