This ice pick works well enough to break up ice and whatnot, however because the handle's diameter is pretty small, I find my hand sliding down when I'm using it. I do like that it comes with a cover for storage purposes and safety. I just wish the handle was a little thicker in dimension or even had something on it to give it some traction. It's really quite smooth, so it can get a bit slippery when wet. One star lost for that.

We got introduced to the benefits of having an icepick at homes quite a while ago. It is great to use, not only on bags of ice you get from the warehouse or grocery store. We use it on many other items, like the two opposing holes on top of the evaporated milk can, or any other cans with liquids in them. I even used it to modify the hole in my leather belt. Having only one icepick meant that at camping we won’t have one. Our camping gear is already organized and in boxes. We load and drive. I saw this version of icepick and decided that for camping it should work best, it is a thin cylinder, and won’t take up much space. See the comparison to or home icepick. Unfortunately, in real life experience, I wish they would have made the handle with the metal more ergonomic. It is hard to hit hard when you have a thin, almost pencil shape. A thicker and tapered handle gives you a better grip. I do like that it is thicker and sturdier.

I have an automatic ice cube maker (in an older refrigerator) that leaks a bit of excess water on top of the ice cube storage container every single time it dispenses new ice cubes and has to refill. That bit of water then freezes in the ice cube storage container, joining the ice cubes into a large block of ice that needs to be broken apart. This ice cube pick is perfect for that purpose. It easily broke apart a big block of cubes that was probably two inches thick with one or two hits on the ice cube block. I like this ice pick (never had one before) as it Is lightweight and comes with a screw on cover to protect someone from accidentally stabbing themselves with the pick when it is not being used. Further, the pick will take almost no space to store it. It will easily fit into a kitchen drawer. It breaks apart the ice much easier than the two metal utensils I have used I the past (the metal handles of my spaghetti server or ice cream scoop). Also, given that the pick is much smaller and narrower than a spaghetti server or ice cream scoop handle, it fits through the ice cube storage container opening easier to get at the joined ice cubes and break them apart. I no longer have to worry I might hit the ice cube storage container by accident and break that too. I am hoping this holds up well, as it will get used often while I have this refrigerator. It looks sturdy and like it should last a long time, but I wonder if the pick part could eventually become separated from the handle part. If that happens, I will update this review, but right now, I am very happy with this ice pick.

I needed an ice pick and came across this. This is actually a fancy ice pick. So far I've had 3 people tell me this thing looks great. It is made of wood and stainless steel. What makes this great is that it comes with a cover. All other ice picks I've had are just a metal stick lol, this has a wood cover that makes it look elegant and nice. It stays on secured as you screw it shut. Closed it is about 10in long. I have only used it in my home so I don't know how it would be on say, a camping trip or in the outdoors. But for my sues, just to break down large ice chunks at home, this works great. I am happy with this ice pick so far.

I'll say it again, I can't believe it's an ice pick. It absolutely worked perfectly for me. Yes the handle is a little short but it did not interfere with my picking the ice. I got bags which, unfortunately partially melted and I had a fun time getting nice size pieces and the pick did its job! I wiped it down and screwed on the cover to make it definitely safe. Absolutely great value and it can be used for other jobs as well. I will not go into that but you'll figure it out for yourself. Get it while you can.

I couldn’t find my old ice pick. I am glad for that because this new one is so much more glamourous and practical. It is made with a material that looks like beautiful dark wood trimmed in shiny brass. They say it is rustproof, but be sure to wipe it dry after each use. I like the heft and sturdiness of it. There is not much to say about an ice pick. It separates ice cubes in my freezer when they stick together! However, there are other picks like this that are offered at a lower price from various vendors, but be sure that you are getting stainless steel and the length you desire. Some look the same but are shorter. This one is just as advertised. It looks so nice in your kitchen that you may want to leave it out on display as a conversation piece.
