    • If you have high hips, these are the jeans for you

I'm cursed with hips that are about even with my naval. A normal pair of pants that are supposed to ride at the waist actually end up about half way down my hips, so no matter how tight I cinch them up, within an hour, they've slid down to my thighs. Because of this, I've worn suspenders for years to keep my pants up. These jeans ride just above my hips and level with my naval. I can now cinch my belt and have them stay up without having to resort to using suspenders. If your hips are high up your torso these are the jeans for you. If you have what are apparently normal hips based on the shirtless models Amazon uses you might find they sit awkwardly high. If you get these, you'll probably avoid tucking in your shirt so others can't tell how far up the waist rides. I've worn a pair every day for two weeks, washing and drying them about every other day to see how they hold up. They show no significant shrinkage and get softer after every wash. As others have said, the pockets are quite shallow. My Pixel 9a just fits one of the pockets, and if it wasn't for the cut of the pockets I'd be afraid of it falling out. If you like to stand round with your hands in your pockets, you'll notice how shallow they are right away. The material isn't thin, though I don't know if I'd go as far as saying it's thick. It's great for Fall and Spring, but may be a little warm for hot summer days compared to a lot of other jeans. Unlike most carpenter pants there is no hammer loop which makes these *almost* suitable for a night on the town. However, there is a pliers pocket on the left thigh which while holding a 12 oz water bottle nicely, may detract from their suitability as a pair of casual pants depending on your sensibilities. Thanks to an early Prime deal, I've purchase four more in each of the colors. I normally wear a size 38x30 and these are slightly baggy in the legs. ... show more

I have a tall thin build (31W/34L). And it’s been historically difficult for me to find pants that fit comfortably. These Amazon essentials jeans are the most soft and comfortable pants I’ve found, and the semi-elastic waistband make em stay in place without feeling sloppy or loose. They seem pretty well made. And the only note I would make is, the pockets are Shallow compared to all my other jeans. If they made the pockets deeper, they’d be perfect. ... show more
