I would be "layering" clothing throughout the day and needed something to stuff lightweight sweaters, jackets, scarves, mittens, flip flops, small purchases, etc. in. I wanted a flexible, squishy backpack that I could stuff into my larger main travel suitcase without adding too much weight and taking up too much space. This worked perfectly. I was trying to just do carry-on for a recent trip but I didn’t want to lug my giant travel backpack to every location so this backpack fit in my suitcase and unfolded info just about a full size backpack. I was able to pack for a day of snorkeling..sunscreen, phone, microfiber towel and snorkel gear without issue. It‘s nice and light weight and is fairly rip resistant from what I could tell. I took this to Mexico for a week of relaxed beach walks, grocery shopping, etc. It was GREAT: I wanted something that packed into no space in my carry-on bag, held a few clothes/towels, food, water bottle holder on the outside (could have been a little deeper for tall bottles) and has two zippered pockets (one inside, one out). The straps were comfortable and I'm 5'11" and 155lbs and it was just fine. The material is thin but I wasn't especially gentle with it and it held up.     • It’s as it says, basic
Look, for around 15$-20$, It does the job. I normally use it as a small travel bag to hold my hand towel, tissues, external battery, phone cables, sun glasses, and other small handy items I use on the norm. It’s not a fluffy cloud in terms of comfort, but definitely nothing to complain about. It’s not water proof or water resistant, but it will at least protect your things from light - normal rain for a bit. Exposed to long periods of rain, any kind of heavy rain or just accidentally dropping it in a puddle is asking for your things to get wet. There is also no kind of soft cushion, so if your drop it, anything fragile inside will probably break. If anything sharp or pointy runs into it, it will probably rip. I use it about once a week and the Amazon basics logo is practically falling off by now, but I can’t say that I treat it like a new born baby either. At this price point, you’re are not getting anything high quality or long lasting, let’s be real. In all honesty, it does the job at the most acceptable level and I’m okay with that. If you are not trying to spend 80$+ on a bag, this will do you just fine for your non valuables for a couple years or so. It’s perfect for a gym bag if your just want to put a pair of extra clothes and gym shoes in it. ... show more

Used it for 10 days traveling and it worked great but on the way home that top strap ripped off on one side.

    • Good for the price point
A previous review states that this is an extremely lightweight pack. Definitely correct. I’ve used it a couple of times (and bought a second one for my wife). It’s held up on two trips as a casual daypack for the beach. I obviously can’t attest to long term durability, but at this price point, it’s easily replaced if it fails. Compared to similar packable models from High Sierra and Eddie Bauer, (which cost a bit more), I’d have to say that while still lightweight, the others feel a little more solid, as in slightly heavier. The AmazonBasics model is fine for a small water bottle and maybe some clothes and an iPad, but I’d be very careful about carrying too much weight in it. It’s great as a light pack for a day hike or bicycling, but I doubt that I’d use it for an actual camping trip or extended travel. The water bottle holders (why they need two on a bag this small is a mystery, but whatever) are elastic and hold a bottle well, but I’d stick with a smaller (16 oz. or smaller) size. There’s a small front pocket for your phone and other small items. Backpack straps are meshed and of average comfort for a packable backpack. This pack is really good to stash in your larger bag or carryon for use on a trip; it folds up quickly into its own pouch and doesn’t take up a lot of room. That’s what I plan on using it for, and am not too worried about durability at this price. I’m just going to avoid weighing it down with too much stuff. Anyway, so far, so good. ... show more
