  • Painter multi-tool can do a lot of things
What’s not to like about a multi-use tool when you’re on the ladder in the middle of a painting job? This versatile guy can get a lot done. Even though this is billed as a 6-in-1 tool, I find that it can do so much more. • Spreader for spackling/adhesive/etc at end of blade • Scraper/chisel on other side of the blade end for getting in and widening out cracks, for digging out caulk, etc. • Paint can opener - side is ideal for this, or can be used to dry moulding • Concave scraper/nail puller/roller cleaner on the big large concave indentation • Corner/crack cleaner at front sharp tip of blade • Hammer at butt end to set nails or bang your paint lid back on. What I like about this tool: - The nylon handle seems durable (shatter resistant), is comfortable to hold, and is resistant to solvent. - The 3” blade is made out of carbon steel. All steel has a tiny amount of carbon in it but products marked as carbon steel have a higher percentage in it. Carbon steel is stronger than stainless but it can still chip / break). Also, carbon steel isn’t great against corrosion such as rusting (so store your putty knife in a dry place). The blade has a slight bit of flexibility to it, for applying spackle, but doesn’t bend so much that it won’t be a good scraper (it’s more stiff than flexible). - There’s a reinforced metal hole for hanging at end - There is a hole for hanging on a pegboard at one end.. it can also be used to attach the tool to your body or the ladder while you’re working so you don’t drop it. What I don’t like as much: - I am disappointed that this isn’t a full tang to the steel: the blade only goes about an inch into handle. This means it is less durable / that the blade is more likely to separate from the handle than a tang that extends clear out to the end. - The blade is not as sharp as I thought it would be for scraping. Overall, this is a great little tool that has a lot of uses. We will definitely get a lot of use out of it over the years. ... show more

  • Good quality, basic must-have multi-purpose painters tool
This review is for the AmazonBasics 6-in-1 Nylon Handle Painters Tool. If you are going to do any painting, especially of existing older surfaces or windows, this is a fantastic multi-purpose tool to have handy. With this one tool, you can accomplish several tasks that would otherwise require separate tools. You can dig out old caulk, scrape old paint, open cans, edge, or clean a roller all with this one tool. The metal is thick and rigid to withstand all of the above tasks, securely riveted, and the nylon handle is sized and shaped to fit comfortably in the hand. The very bottom of the nylon handle also has a durable metal end cap, which can be used to tap a paint can lid closed to keep the paint from drying out. It is a good quality, basic multi-purpose painters tool. ... show more

  • Good Quality!
This is a good quality Nylon Handle Painters Tool with a Hammer End. Granted the hammer end isn't super heavy than I thought it would be but gets the job done adequately for small minor hits on the nails and other parts of drywall without damaging the tool's end. The main purpose is to use it for scraping, chiseling, opening cracks and paint cans, cleaning paint rollers, and/or spreading spackle and adhesives which it does help to accomplish nicely. The blade is thick not too sharp but stiff and properly taper-grounded down which has mirror-polished like surface as described in the product page. Overall I am happy with the tool. Another good multi-function tool from Amazonbasics. Worthy of five stars! ... show more

  • Will get the job done
A painters tool is a very handy all in one tool. It can be used to scrape, remove old caulk, fill holes, clean rollers, open/close paint cans, etc.... This tool can do of those tasks effectively, but it isn't the best I've used. The nylon handle is a little small for my large hands, it's also smooth (no grip), and not very ergonomic. Although it has a metal cap on the bottom of the handle ("Hammer End"), the rest of the handle is hollow and feels somewhat fragile. I don't know how it would hold up to a drop from ladder hight. Overall, it's a effective tool, but it's pretty basic, and probably not the best choice for a professional painter who uses it daily. That said, it's fine for most homeowner occasional use. ... show more

  • Review of Amazon Basics 6-IN-1 Nylon Handle Painters Tool with Hammer End
Great scraper; it made the job of scraping the paint much easier. It comes with a blade cover, and the handle has a hole for hanging. The entire tool is 7" long, and the handle is 3.5" long. The handle is made out of hard plastic. The handle is not ergonomically shaped. If I could change anything, I would have changed the handle shape to be more ergonomic. I purchased it to replace the old Red Devil scarper whose handle is slightly rounded, and the rounded shape was a little easier to hold. Ali Julia review ... show more

  • Great quality painters tool
The AmazonBasics painters tool looks similar to a whole bunch of other painters tools on the market. I have a Hyde one that I really like that has a couple more functions, but the 6 on the AmazonBasics are the really useful ones. The 3-inch blade is a good size for scraping or patching and opening paint cans with this tool is a breeze. The handle is very sturdy and reminds me of another Hyde model. Who know if this is just a rebadged Hyde. I'm a big fan of these multi tools and I really like this one from AmazonBasics. ... show more

  • I always have one of these in my back pocket while painting.
I have been using this type of painters tool for years. It is indispensable during surface prep and also while painting. You can scrape off old paint and small lumps on the surface with the sharp front edge. The point at one end allows you to get into cracks to clean out dirt and bug debris. The butt of the handle is a lightweight hammer that can knock in protruding nails. While painting, you can scrape off drips and runs. I always have one of these in my back pocket while painting. ... show more
