Amazon Basics 5-Blade MotionSphere Razor for Men with Dual Lubrication and Precision Beard Trimmer, Handle & 2 Cartridges (Cartridges fit Amazon Basics Razor Handles only) (Previously Solimo) , Includes one Amazon Basics 5-Blade MotionSphere Razor handle and two refill cartridges and Packaging may vary from images shown. This was previously a Solimo product and is now a part of the Amazon Basics brand. The product is the exact same formulation, size and quality. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Prepare: Wash your face with warm water to remove dirt and oils. Apply a pre-shave oil (optional). 2. Lather: Apply shaving cream or gel to your face using a brush or directly with your hands. 3. Shave: Use a razor to shave in the direction of hair growth, using short and light strokes, rinsing the razor frequently. For a closer shave, you can reapply shaving cream/gel and shave against the grain (opposite direction of hair growth). However, be cautious as this may increase the risk of skin irritation or ingrown hairs. 4. Soothe: Rinse your face, pat dry, and apply an aftershave lotion or balm to moisturize and soothe the skin. 5. Store: Shake off excess water after use and store your razor in a clean, dry place.

I had to give this review. A must buy. I honestly did not expect to love these razors this much. I’ve tried everything over the years, including much more expensive brands, and these are by far some of the smoothest, sharpest razors I’ve ever used.     • Mullet of razor blades - good up front...needs work in the back
The front facing razor is great - provides a good clean shave. The head moves and adjusts well. It's well made. I've tried Gillette, Schick, DSC, Harry's and Jeremy's and this is at least on par with them all and better than some (Schick and Jeremy's are my other favorites). Therefore, at its price point, it would be a clear leader. Exceeeeeepppppttt....The rear-facing trimmer blade stinks! Either the angle of the blade or the amount of protrusion from the casing are such that it constantly cuts/nicks such that it renders it unusable. I have to keep a separate trimmer blade of another brand to pair with this one. I don't think it would require much study of competitor's trimmer blade to re-design the angle/positioning and make this entre blade great. But as it sits, it's only pretty good. ... show more

This razor really impressed me from the first shave. The 5 blade MotionSphere design glides effortlessly across the skin and provides a smooth and close shave without irritation. The handle feels sturdy and comfortable in the hand giving you good control and balance. The dual lubrication strip makes each pass feel gentle and reduces tugging even on coarse hair. I also love the precision beard trimmer which makes it easy to clean up edges around sideburns and under the nose. The included cartridges fit perfectly and last for multiple uses without dulling quickly. Another plus is that the quality feels just as good as more expensive name brand razors but at a much better value. Replacement cartridges are easy to find and they lock securely onto the handle.     • QUALITY COULD BE BETTER
I usually shave with an electric razor, but approximately 4 times a month I blade shave. I do not have a heavy beard, so as a rule, no need to shave every day. After using the first blade a few times I felt I was not getting the benefit of a good shave. I changed to the other blade, and checked the sharpness after a few uses, like I usually do.     • Low quality razor, bad for many, ok for some
Item: Amazon Basics 5-Blade MotionSphere Razor (Starter Kit) Summary: Really bad for anyone with sensitive skin, tough beard, unsmooth face, or curly hair/whiskers. The trimmer is almost completely worthless for anyone. Possibly okay for anyone with great to average skin/beard. Pros: Inexpensive, quick ship, lots of lubrication, doesn't clog. Cons: Trimmer, Blade Angle, Blade Gap, Blade Longevity. Background: I have sensitive skin and curly hair/whiskers and my only goal, like anyone in the same boat, is to find the least worst razor to use. Nothing is awesome. To date, the older Dorco Pace 6, NOT the pro version, is the best I've found. Unfortunately Dorco keeps trying to kill off the older Pace 6 and force everyone to the Pace 6 Pro or the Pace 7 Pro, which are far inferior. Thus I occasionally try out other razors. This time it was Amazon's. Detail: Aesthetically the Amazon razor looks good. The first sign that the design might not be good is when you attempt to remove/attack a blade. I'm not sure why every manufacturer considers it so important to make theirs unique rather than practical or work well. Your first thought will be how does this work when the prongs stick out at an angle. With a little fidgeting it does. But why! With your first stroke of the razor, you realize it makes a lot of noise. This is because the razor isn't cutting all the whiskers, but pushing many over akin to an airplane crash landing in a forest as it skims the trees. I ended up doing at least 4 to 6 times as many strokes as the legacy Dorco Pace 6. I felt uneasy with using the razor near the eyes as I didn't want to catch the skin and cut like many other cheap razors. Something I never worry about with the legacy Dorco Pace 6. Then I got to finally using the trimmer. OMG this is an actual nightmare. It's so spongy that you can't. And it leaves so much lubricating gel that it sticks as you try and pick up to reposition. It's obvious no engineer was involved in the trimmer design or he/she was high and drunk at the same time when they were. After rinsing my face of all the lubricating gel I realized the places I typically have problems with cheap razors didn't get a smooth shave, specifically the lower neck, around the mouth, and around the side burns. After about three days of using the Amazon razor my opinion only got worse. I now have a ingrown hair in the lower neck and noticed the blades are considerably duller, so much so that my neck burns as I type up this review. ... show more
