  • Great Running/Walking Shoes
Size: 7 Color: Navy
Love these shoes. They are light in weight, fit to size, comfortable, supportive, great selection of colors and worth the price. The only drawback are the shoe laces do not stayed tied. Double tie is required.

  • Wide toe box/comfortable
Size: 7 Color: White/Green
I was so sick of reading reviews “looks so cute” “love the colors” blah! I wouldn’t care if these shoes look like new born baby poop, as long as I can run in these RUNNING shoes. I am NOT a strong runner but I sure do try! I do a lot of research on these shoes and i decided to try them. And let me tell you, I am so happy I did. My issue is placement of my feet striking the ground, I heel stop the earth. These shoes really did help adjust that almost forced. I can tell the difference and I can feel an actual stride and have now been able to run a few miles! They also have a beautiful wide toe box. I do not have elf feet but more like caveman wide flat feet. These shoes, fit them. ... show more

  • More Narrow than other Altra
I needed a shoe for hybrid training so I tried both the Rivera (left foot) and the Escalante 3 (right foot). The Rivera's noticeably more narrow around the toe and footbed. The lip on the back comes up higher on the Achilles. For what I needed, I figured the narrower fit would keep my foot more secure for the type of race I was running so I went with the Rivera. Cons: -Shoelaces suck. They are slick and kept coming untied so I replaced them with lock laces. -At 28mm stack, it is the same height as my Torin Luxe 5. I have owned numerous pairs of Altra trail and road and have never had to break them in. The Rivera's sole felt inflexible the first couple of uses, so far has to make my feet and calves sore during breaking in. After several uses, they are a bit better, but still nowhere near as flexible as my Torin. Pros: -Lightweight -Good cushion/response -The higher back lip kept my foot from slipping out during heavy sled pushes without the need for a heel lock. ... show more

  • If you have high arches, these don't work
I have a strange foot, so I don't blame the shoe, but I would have benefitted by reading a review like this before I purchased my Rivera 3 shoes. They were the most gorgeous color of purple and I wanted them to work so badly. Here's what I discovered. The wide toe bed is indeed comfortable, but don't mistake that to mean it is a wider fit for the ball of the foot, too. I hoped it would be a bit wider in that area, as well as the toe area. The worst problem, however, was that for people like myself with high arches, there simply isn't enough height in the shoe. The tongue of the shoe barely covered the top of my foot, the laces were very spread open and there wasn't enough left to even tie the shoe. I am overweight, like most Americans, but only by about 20 lbs.; I'm not obese. Even though I acknowledge having a very unique foot, I've never had this problem with any other shoe brand, so I have to conclude it's the shoe and not just my foot. I'm sure it's a great shoe, but it just isn't for everybody. ... show more

  • Comfortable shoe
Size 10, I tried these shoes on in REI, they seemed to always be out of my size, then found them on Amazon. I'm a nurse and on my feet or on the move daily. Had developed a corn on my little toe these allow room for my toes taking pressure off that corn. They look great with scrubs, leggings or jeans ... show more

  • Lost Toenails
Altras were recommended by family and friends. I own five pairs (different models) and happened to have gradually lost my big toenail on each foot. My doctor suggested that it may be the shoes I was wearing, but I dismissed this as I got the same size shoe that I've worn for my 40+ years of running (though with different brands). In the meantime my podiatrist prescribed orthotics due to an ankle injury. The custom orthotics were too long to fit in my Altras, so I returned to wearing my former brand of running shoes. So glad I did, as my toenails finally started growing back in normally. This is when I discovered how much shorter the Altras are than other brands. I suspect the rubber sole that points upward towards my big toe is the main problem. I still have the five pairs of altras as I bought them for the wide toe box, but I only wear them when I know I won't be on my feet for long (like running errands). Hoping to discover a brand that makes similar shoes with the right length and does not have the sole rise up in front of the big toe. ... show more
