ALL THE STARS!!! I decided to buy trail shoes for a Spartan Beast (13+ miles trail and 30 obstacles) the week of the race. I'd read many great review for the Lone Peak and hoped they would be a good match for my feet. For reference, I wear Xero shoes for work and running so I prefer zero drop and wide toe box. I tried these shoes on at home and then took them out for the race with no break in (face palm), but I needed the trail treads. OMG - these shoes were amazing. No issues whatsoever with my body and the traction on the steep uphills and downhills was incredible - NO slipping at all! I was (and still am) speechless - I've run half and full marathons and other obstacle course races before so I know the importance of breaking in a shoe, the Lone Peaks did not need that time, they were perfect right out of the box. If you prefer zero drop and wide toe box with a little cushion for the trails, this shoe is for you! I had also purchased the Superior 5 to try on but decided I wanted a little cushion and opted for the Lone Peak. Hope this review helps you!

I previously ordered this same shoe from another retail establishment. Their website said the shoe fits to size and to order your normal size. I did, but the shoe felt about a half size too small. I liked the larger toe box and I was able to wear the shoe for normal flat surface walking with no issues. It was not going to work for the trail. I went ahead and purchased this same sure from the Amazon supplier for a much lower price but in a half size larger than I normally wear. The second pair at the lager size fits much better for wearing while hiking.

This show provides the perfect amount of ankle support and cushion for the balls of your feet. I real enjoy running the wolf river trails in the shoes. I have zero slippage even after heavy rain. They are true to size and great for people to like an ergonomic/natural feel when running. The width allows for my toes to spread and gives me the opportunity to achieve really good balance even on uneven terrain. Highly recommend. Plus they come in several color ways. I’m thinking about ordering another pair for sure.

Finally, my toes are free! I went to the website to understand more about the shoe. These are original form-Has a roomier toe box. There are 3 or 4 forms (as this is). I always ordered Wide on shoes, They were fine in the toes, not in the rest of the shoe. Altra has perfected it. Expanding the toe box area, not the whole shoe. They do offer wide also. Now the wish,......All weather, or Gore Tex options for the Lone Peak!

These are great, but I should have sized up. My foot is long and narrow, but I need room in the you're box and hate my feet cramped. I'mbetween an 8.5 and 9 and read reviews that said NOT to size up so I didn't and wish I had. This does not change how great these are. I have the ankle style and will re-order these in the 9 for next season. I use spenco orthotics in these and after the first try of wearing them around my house for six hours I had zero issues and my feet felt great (I have flat feet btw). Definitely try these if your feet are unhappy in regular walking shoes or hiking boots. These are light weight. I would not do a week of back packing in them, but for 1 or 2 day hikes they are AWESOME!

These run a half size larger than the peak 7s. Otherwise, great shoe. I got the burnt orange color, and it looks exactly like the color expected! I’ve put probably 50-100 miles on them with no issues, other than they’re a bit big compared to the Peak 7 - the exact same shoe but 1 year newer is 1/2 to 1 full size smaller.

I did a lot of research on shoes that have a wide toe box before I bought the Altra Lone Peak. Information from the company says that the shoe allows the forefoot to move in a natural manner while walking or running. Their shoes also have 0 mm drop so the foot is not artificially higher or lower at any point. I found all of this to be true and they are among the only shoes that give my feet true comfort. As I've gotten older I find I need this extra room in the toes, but no where else. Getting a wide size makes shoes too wide in the heel. I look forward to trying other styles from Altra.

I love these shoes so much! I’m 74 and walk about 200 miles in a month. The toe box is just right for my not insubstantial bunions, and I no longer get corns from my toes rubbing together. These shoes are light in weight and can lace up to make a perfect fit.
