This water soluble stabilizer (WSS) proved to perform exactly as expected. This is the type of WSS that appears to be fabric-like in the roll. After machine embroidering my design onto organza, a quick rinse under warm running water easily removed all traces of the WSS. A quick note: if you want the finished embroidery to remain stiff, such as with free-standing lace (FSL), slip the embroidered piece in a bowl of warm water, instead of rinsing it under running water. A bit of the glue will remain in the threads, and allow the piece to retain some stiffness. Also, as an experiment, I bought some Vilene WSS and compared the results. I treated the identical embroidered pieces the same way, and the results were the same. And the New Brothread WSS was less expensive than the Vilene. ... show more

I used this to hand embroider on tulle and it held up very well to my stitchwork. One thing I wish I would have thought about was that if you draw your pattern on in graphite, when you go to wash it away, the graphite is going to stick to your embroidery thread. Not such a big deal with dark colors, but if you're using white floss like me, it's not going to look good. Next time, I will use a soluble fabric marker to draw out my design. The material is sturdy enough to work through while hand embroidering and dissolves completely in water. This is the first time I've tried something like this, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I was very surprised and happy with the results!
