This is the best shoe I have ever worn. I bought another pair for when my current one runs out. I have very wide feet and Altra is the only brand of shoe that doesn’t hurt and I don’t have to break in due to pain.

They had the shape of Altra shoes, but the sole wore out in just three weeks of walking. Not speed walking, just walking. I contacted Altra complete with photos, but they did not respond.

I am a big Altra shoe fan. I have many different styles but these seem to be a bit more narrow than some others which is a bummer because my feet are wide. They don’t work for running for me but are fine for daily wear

As an avid runner, I cautioned getting these because I had been running in neutral kinvara 12s (4mm drop) for the past year battling some hip pain. But when my physical therapist said I slightly overpronate and should consider trying out stability shoes, I went for it. Unfortunately it was too much change for me to adjust to and I started having knee pain. Besides that, my feet were hurting just two miles into my runs. Three strikes and you’re out so when my knee pain continued after three runs, I decided to give up and return them. Altra has a great policy on returns. And I used to love their Viho until they discontinued it. So this just wasn’t the shoe for me. Onto the shoe search yet again!

My first pair were purchased at a local retailer specialty shoe store and 50% off, so I thought why not try a pair! Wow, I have worn them every other day and they are the most comfortable, lightweight and supportive shoe. I have Morton’s neuroma problems and have difficulty finding a supportive shoe which alleviates foot pain.

I have been using the Altra Escalante 2 running shoe and really liked it. I was due for a new pair of shoes and decided to try the Provision 5. Love these shoes from the moment I put them. They were comfortable, the width was great not wide, I have an average with foot, love the guide rails and arch support system, colors are nice, cushioning is just the right amount for road running. Still feel connecting to the ground while being supported and cushioned. The tongue was much more cushioned and longer on the Provision than the Escalante which I like much better. Shoe still has the nice wide toe box and love that Altra has a women’s fit. The only thing this shoe was missing for me was elastic shoe laces. I put on a pair myself, love those laces for easy on and off because I am very picky about how my shoes fit. I would highly recommend trying these shoes if you have some overpronation. Don’t know what else I’d want in a running shoe.
