The 4'10 kids surfboard is built in our soft top foam construction which is super safe, ultra durable and excellent for beginners. It comes in a compact shortboard size and is specifically designed for kids & youth surfers. Great for my 11 year old surfing. We use in Myrtle Beach and its been good for him to get comfortable getting up on the board etc. we are using as beginner board before investing in hard board when he gets more experienced.

I'm sure this board is fine. But it is definitely not brand new. For the price we paid I would expect to receive a brand new item, not one that has clearly been used. Will be returning.

Although I got this for when my kids come to town, I couldn't help but want to take it out myself, and I have to admit I had a blast. I was really surprised that the amount of volume in this little 5'6" surfboard was almost the same as my old 6'9" Rusty, and that got me thinking. The end result was a fantastic day at the beach on a board that was definitely not designed with a 186 lb adult in mind. Materials and construction quality are very good and all of the lamination around the edges feels smooth and properly sealed. The fins include rubber washers to prevent water from absorbing into the foam through the fin holes. The soft top is comfortable to paddle on but despite the claim that no wax is needed, I found that the surface was somewhat more slippery than I'm comfortable with. Personally, I think a traction pad would be a welcome addition. Overall, this is a fun little board that beginners will love and even more experienced surfers can enjoy. If you're looking for a starter board for your kids, I absolutely recommend this one. ... show more

As someone with a family of surfers, it's always been a rite of passage for the kids to graduate from boogie boards to the real deal. For my oldest grandson's upcoming birthday, I decided it was time for him to join the surfing ranks. Enter the Waterkids 5'6 Reef Kids Surfboard & Leash. Honestly, it's just what I was hoping for in a beginner's surfboard. The board's design and soft top material are impressive. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my grandson will have a safe introduction to surfing. There's no need for surf wax, which is convenient and cuts down on prep time. This board isn't just about safety, though. It's also built to last. Kids can be rough on their toys, but this surfboard is clearly designed to withstand the rigors of learning to surf. The Dura-Soft construction seems sturdy and I have no doubts about its longevity. The board's size is another point in its favor. The 5'6" length is just right for a kid making the transition from boogie boarding. It's comfortable for them to handle while providing enough surface to help them catch and ride those waves. It's refreshing to see a company like Waterkids, which clearly cares about the quality of its products and the experiences they provide for young surfers. Plus, it's an added bonus knowing that the product is American owned and designed by surfers. We haven't tested it in the water yet, but I'm optimistic about the birthday surprise. The body board is good for kids. My nephew has used it so far and it has been decent so far. I would say this works really well for beginners and kids a like. The board does look and feel nice. It is pretty durable while also being lightweight. This makes it easy to carry to the beach and such. Also I do not have to worry about the board breaking or anything. It is easy to dry out and floats well. There is a cable attachment so you can attach it to your wrist to avoid losing it. The strap is not too bad and the velcro holds well so far. The actual board works great for the beach. I left it in the sun and there was no damage or anything. It drys out pretty well and easy to clean as needed. I just rinse it. My nephew pretty much took this into the water a few times and found no issues with it so far although the velcro can be a bit dirty. The pattern design is very bright and nice look so you can easily see this in the water. Overall the body board works great so far. I have had no issues so far and it does hold up well. It is light weight and has provided a ton of fun at the beach so far. ... show more

This is a Great foam soft top surfboard for beginners & Kids. It is super nice quality and professional grade construction. It is a real surfboard - no just a big boogie board. It is super buoyant and easy to control/steer. The soft top is cushy and soft on bare stomachs & hips. It is short for adults learning but easy to maneuver and super buoyant so will work for the athletic minded. For kids (under 110lbs) it works great. My 13yo (5.2', 95lbs) and 11yo (4.11', 85lbs) daughters are learning to surf this summer and it is working great for them. They are pretty athletic kids and have been bodyboarding and SUPing for years. The board is lightweight and easy to keep a grip on while paddling out - no wax needed. My 13yo has no problem popping up and riding straight in. We are working on turning and cutting but with the three skags it was easy for me to do so I know she'll get it eventually. The board is really stable which is nice compared to my hubbys standard fiberglass board. I also like that the soft top is easier on their bodies when they tumble off or drop down on to it. The included leash is nice quality too - comfortable neoprene lined cuff that does not irritate their skin. It washes off easily with no sand sticking to the soft top. My girls are super happy with it and fight over who gets to use it vs. the standard board we have. ... show more

This 'Shaka' Kids Bodyboard 36" Body Board seems to be good quality. It is very sturdy, and I appreciate that it comes with a leash. However, I wasn't sure if a couple of white spots on the bottom of the black side were supposed to be there since they look kinda out of place. I also noticed some of the black edging on the white side looks sloppy and kinda runs into the white (see photos). I checked with the brand, and they said it is standard. Otherwise, the graphics look great. And, more importantly, this won't effect the use of the board. But, I do feel like the look is a little sloppy for the price point. ... show more
