Description

Can you keep a secret? Sadie has a fetish. She likes it cold. The only man who has understood and loved her for this perversion is her ambulance partner and boyfriend: Michael. So, when Michael unexpectedly gets run over by a snowplow, Sadie will stop at nothing to keep him alive, to keep bringing him back from the dead again and again for one thing and one thing only. But when Michael begins to deteriorate, when things that were once hard become loose and floppy, Sadie finds herself taking lives instead of saving them. In an effort to keep Michael’s organs pumping, Sadie has to go against her paramedic training and human instincts and kill instead of rescue. But she’s doing it in the name of love, so it’s okay. Right? Totally. When does love turn to obsession? How far will Sadie go for the one she loves? “Cold on the outside, burning with love at the center, this debut from Mackenzie Kiera is as good a time as it's possible to have on the page, with dead people. With sexy dead people.” – Stephen Graham Jones, author of THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS “Mackenzie Kiera’s electrifying debut novella is laugh-out-loud funny, over-the-top gory, totally insane, and just what the doctor ordered to chill you for the summer and leave you begging for more.” – Bob Pastorella, co-host of THIS IS HORROR. “Sadie Snow is the twisted lovechild of Patrick Bateman and Victor Frankenstein but sexier. Mackenzie Kiera’s All You Need is Love and a Strong Electric Current does not hold back. It’s sexy, extreme, unflinching, in your face, and hilarious. This will in equal-parts turn people’s stomachs and excite their Lady Elizabeths and King Henrys. So, go ahead. Read. Mackenzie Kiera will show you a good time and then she’ll make you bleed.” – Michael David Wilson, author of THE GIRL IN THE VIDEO and founder of THIS IS HORROR Read more

  • Cold as ice
This book is great, unique and fun to read. Sadie has an unusual fetish and she will go to any extreme in order to satisfy that craving. Depraved with a touch of romance.

  • Chilled and Thrilled
Grab a hot drink and warm blanket when you sit down to read this book. Her writing realistically describes plunging into a frozen lake so well I felt chilled all day. Her story is fast paced and exciting, page after page is never what you expect. An Interesting read, and it will keeping you thinking about it long after you put it down. I wonder if our heroine ever discovers the latest fad, round ice cubes. ... show more

  • Total Franken-banger
Kiera delivers a fun, modern take on the hallowed Frankstein build. The main character's voice is one of the most engaging I've come across in years! Delivers fun, gore, and heart in equal measure. Must-read.

  • High-Voltage Humor, Frosty Sex, Shocking Mayhem
If the musings of Sadie Snow's unraveling psyche don't have you in stitches--pun intended--then your soul is as cold as Sadie's favorite dildo. In Sadie, Mackenzie Kiera has created a strong, confident millennial woman gone stone crazy and stark naked. She's a sexy slasher whose unique worldview and unusual erogenous preferences simultaneously make your gorge rise and your laughter erupt. Subtitled, "A Frankenstein retelling, but sexier," this fast-paced novella combines strategic dismemberment, obsessive passion, paramedic know-how and rudimentary sewing skills into the most shocking, tortuous, hilarious, and inexplicably touching love story I've ever read. WARNING: Wait an hour after eating before reading. SECOND WARNING: You may never look at an ice cube the same way again. ... show more

  • The best of the series so far
The Rewind or Die series of short n.books has been a lot of fun so far, and this is by far the best of the first 14! I need to read more from Mackenzie!

  • Pretty Dope
One of those stories that kept getting more satisfying as it went. Wonderfully romantic opening as well.

  • Unhinged, Hilarious, and Smart.
A feminist American Psycho is the only way I can describe this absolutely wild book. Sadie's voice is powerful, hilarious, and unhinged. Her running social and cultural commentary mixed with moments of raw violence and sex make this book a joy to read. And the amazing part is, you actually care about Sadie. She is vulnerable and smart but hiding it behind a gruff self-conception. There's a point where her trauma reaches a peak, and in that moment the prose shifts perfectly alongside her cracked ego. One of the funniest books I've read in a while, while still maintaining its blood-splattered horror center. Recommended for fans of American Psycho, sick humor, and transgressive literature. ... show more

  • Fast-paced weirdly erotic horror
This book is an absolute delight. Mackenzie is a masterful writer, and you can't help but love and be terrified of Sadie. The VOICE is so good and so strong. Horrifyingly sexy, deeply disturbing romp through nostalgia and gore. Read this, especially if you're a fan of Stephen Graham Jones!
