The sunshade is perfect for my JK unlimited sport. The construction is sturdy and I can see this sunshade lasting a long time. I have kept the door windows down and the soft top windows removed most of the summer in Texas. The sun has been too intense to take the top down many days and so the airflow has not been as good as it could otherwise be. Eureka, the sunshade allows in more air flow and still takes the edge off of the sun. The mesh size and the gaps on the sunshade keep this from being considered as anything that would stop a strong rain shower. Installation can be done by one person (if necessary) following the included instructions. The front and side bungee balls are fairly easy to install however when installing the opposing side to that already done the sunshade needs to be pulled and stretch the already installed bungee balls. This can be done by one person but two would make it easier. The rear bungee balls take some effort to install. They have to be stretched to their limit and so with any bungee cord this will take the elastic out of them over time. The bungee balls are inexpensive to buy and I will probably install some two inches longer when they need replacing in several years. For the front side bungee balls it can take some trial and error to find the best position to run them so that the corners sit flat. There is nothing in the directions to suggest what to do with the grommets in the middle of the sunshade. These grommets correspond to the holes in the sound bar. I installed some temporary bungee cord (none supplied) because I noticed that on the highway the sunshade flapped some in this area. I will probably find something else (lights, grab handle, etc.) that I can mount in this area that would do the same thing and not cover the dome light at the same time. Any suggestions from other jeep owners would be welcome. Raising the soft top: The sunshade adds a level of difficulty to raising the soft top when it has been fully moved to the back of the jeep. Previously I was able to stand in the passenger area and raise the top; now of course that is not possible. The first time I had to do it I had to get some help because I had no ladder/stool to stand on. I do not consider this a big issue but I just need to develop another technique. When you do latch the top you have to undo the front bungee balls; not hard to do but easier if you remove them before you raise the top. This sunshade is great in the hotter climates but would probably not provide a cost effective benefit for anyone where the sun is not intense. I had a friend ride me for an 8 hour drive and after 4 hours we had to put the top and windows up and turn on the A/C. He considered the jeep too hot to use in any climate where the temperature gets over 75 degrees; but what can you expect from a Brit who thinks anything over 75 degrees is a scorcher. :)

One day in and I'm pretty happy I made the purchase. It was a hard decision between this shade on Amazon or an alternative brand more widely known. I was worried I would get some shoddy knockoff but so far I am very impressed. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward as long as you can figure out how to use the bungee balls correctly and where to place them. The instruction card that came with it was pretty simplistic and I used the photos here on Amazon to help guide me. It took me about 10 minutes to make sure I had it on right. Now that I've installed it, it really is pretty easy and I could take it off and re install in minutes next time. The shade feels very sturdy and professionally made. All of the seams and grommets are very nicely done and it definitely does not look like "cheap" product. I have never seen the other brand of sun shade so I can't compare directly, but I am really impressed with the craftsmanship. Right now we have 100 degree days with a very hot sun shining down. The shade let in sunlight that made me feel like I was still rolling topless but without the usual melting of my head, arms and face. Good air circulation too while cutting down on some of the crazy down drafts that mess up my wife's hair and cause her to complain. It's still a Jeep without a top and doors so her hair is still flying around, but not quite as bad as usual. If it makes her a little happier, it makes me happier, you know what I mean? It is pretty taught and even on the interstate going 65-70 I didn't have any obnoxious flapping or movement. It was very minor and not very noticeable. At slower speeds, I don't think I noticed any flapping at all. I'm only one day in but very excited about this purchase. This is exactly what I needed and I am glad I got a quality product for the price I paid for this sunshade on Amazon. I had also debated getting a sun bonnet but wasn't willing to give up my Jeep experience to put a roof over my head. Well, this sunshade solved my dilemma. I have a top but it still lets in light and air while only cutting out the majority of harmful sun rays etc, and I can still see the sky above me. I'll update if any issues come up. So far I predict smooth sailing. *Update After a few more days of use I can really appreciate how well this shade works. No more hot sun beating down on me but I still feel like I am in a convertible. At higher speeds on the interstate there is a minor flapping on the sound bar area but nothing really bad or obnoxious. Nothing I feel that needs to be corrected. There are metal grommets around the holes in the shade above the sound bar that line up with the mounting holes on the sound bar top. The grommets smack the sound bar and if I really thought it was an issue, I suppose I could attach a piece of felt or something on the top of the sound bar to dampen the contact. I am still impressed with the quality of construction, the tight fit and the results. I would buy it again and wish I would have gotten one sooner.

The shade works great and is exactly as shown in the picture. It seems pretty durable and well made. It really does a great job of breaking the sun, keeping the inside of the jeep and its passengers much cooler. You definitely feel the roof there, though, so it's not as free as open top, but it's a nice middle ground between having the roof up and clear sky. Note - this provides NO protection from rain! :) Installation was easy - probably 15 minutes (see complaint 1 below). Now that I know how to do it, that process would be much shorter. But here's a bonus - you don't need to take this off! I run the soft top, and when I want to put that up I just unhook the front 3 bungees. This gives me enough space to secure the front roof clamps without taking the rest down - very convenient! I do have 2 minor complaints: 1. It is not clear how to connect all the bungees. I spent some time trying to figure it out, but had to go to youtube to find an installation video to learn how to attach the rear bungees. They have a small foldout in there, why not show how to connect all the bungees to your jeep on that? 2. Why not make the shade just a few inches wider, so it would cover the entire jeep side to side? The gaps leave a sun shaft right on your arm. It fits perfectly front to back, and I don't see a reason not to make it just a bit wider to fit the same way side to side. I thought of taking a star off for this, but it is clearly shown in the product picture so I can't penalize for that. Overall I like this a lot. If you like the sun in your face and that completely open feeling, then you probably won't use this much. But if you need a break from the sun or want to protect your jeep interior from the sun without having to put the roof up, this is a great option.
