I wore this to my son's wedding. There were several things I felt were a must for the dress I wore. It needed to cover the dreaded underarm chunk. It needed to be lightweight so I wouldn't get overheated dancing and conceal sweat from said dancing. I wanted it gathered on the side since that style goes a long way in making me look thinner. Also a huge help to lessen the look of bloating. Wedding food can do that. I like a simple elegant, understated style and that can be a tricky search all on its own. I eyed this for months but the glitter held me back. But I couldn't find anything when I went shopping. Nothing came closer to what I wanted. So I ordered it with a lot of unknowns. I don't know how heavy it was, how the sleeves would lay or if it would be comfortable. I couldn't believe it, it nailed every picky requirement. Not only was it light weight, it also was stretchy and super comfy! I never imagined I wouldn't have to settle. It was everything I hoped it'd be! I danced like all night while being nice and cool. I had so many compliments. I hope for another event I can wear it to. I may be like Miss Havisham and wear it everyday. Then when I'm old be buried in it. Just kidding. I ordered this dress to wear to my daughter's wedding. It's glamorous but not terribly difficult to wear. I'm not into high fashion. I much prefer to dress for comfort so choosing a formal dress for such an important occasion was stressful. I lost count of how many dresses I actually tried on before & after purchasing this one. When I received it, I thought it was beautiful and really captured the look I was hoping for. It was also much lighter weight than most of the other options I tried. As I searched, I learned that lots of beading, rhinestones, sequins etc. are very heavy not to mention quite abrasive to exposed skin on your arms when they make contact. There were a few issues with this gown, which is why I continued to look even after buying it. I just wasn't able to find anything that had as many of the elements that I was searching for. Cons: The fabric on the drop sleeves should've been designed a bit looser. I'm not sure if this would be a non-issue for the thinner ladies, but I got a little frustrated that raising my arms would push the lower sleeves up and since the fabric has a hint of stretch they seemed to contract a bit and stay there instead of relaxing back down on my arm as shown in the photo. The back zipper did not lay flat. It buckled. I ordered the dress a size larger to overcome this but found that it was still the same. I could put the dress on by sliding it over my head (without unzipping it) so it clearly wasn't a size restriction. I believe that the fabric may be too lightweight to pull it down & hold it down flat. I considered having some sort of boning added to correct this but didn't manage to do so before the big day arrived. Pros: Light weight fabric-very comfortable to wear Very figure flattering-very feminine Glitter infused fabric- Even though you might be covered in glitter simply from trying this dress on, I wouldn't consider this a "con". It gives this dress a WOW factor that can't be ignored. You will look like you are wearing a designer gown at a very affordable price. I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

I had seen this dress advertised by a more expensive retailer and was happy to find it here. I'm glad that I followed the advice here and sized down from what I would usually order. I had imagined that I'd need alterations, but it fits like a glove! I'm 5'4" and the petite is the perfect length. I don't have a large chest, but tend to need extra support up there. This dress does not fit the same as the one I tried on at a department store, despite being the same size and style. The fit was oddly tight on the top. Felt as though it had been altered to a smaller size. I actually checked stitching to see if it had been. Also, found some loose threads at bottom of zipper that will need to be tied or a hole could occur at my backside. Of note, there was no ribbon sewn inside to help support the dress on the hanger. Usually, I remove this anyhow, to avoid fussing with keeping it hidden, but there were none attached. Makes me wonder if the dress was an original Alex Evenings, and if it had been previously altered or worn? I love the color and the way it draped. Just don’t like the pinched feeling on my arms from material or the fact that I need to repair the area at the zipper. Bummed out because this was otherwise a great gown. ... show more

Beautiful dark wine color and high quality material. The sizing chart is correct. My only complaint is the top isn’t suited for larger chested people, it bubbles & that didn't change when I ordered the next size up. I’m 38DD.
