I love this dress! Ordered for my son's wedding. Beautiful in navy blue. I'm normally a true 22, but this runs a bit large. I may order a size smaller to compare but with this one only minor alterations would be needed. I will need to have it shortened but that's normal for me as I'm only 5'3". I was concerned about the sparkles as so many other reviews complained about shedding, but I haven't had any issue at all. I ordered the electric blue in sizes 12 and 14. I received navy blue and not the electric blue I ordered. I am 5'4", 147 pounds and the 12 and 14 both fit. The 12 is a touch tighter, but still looks good and felt comfortable. Both jackets fit fine. They do have shoulder pads in them as well. The shoulder straps on both dresses could be pulled up a bit in alteration. It would have to be pulled up more on the 14 than the 12 in my case and the length on both is the same and definitely needs to be shortened for me. With the larger size, the bodice could be taken in a touch on the sides for me, but everything except the length could be fine without altering if the jacket was worn all the time, which I will be doing anyway. On one, it is clear that the person sewing the neckline pulled the material too tightly as there is a small spot right in the middle that is slightly stretched and so does not lay perfectly flat against the chest. What people say about the glitter is true. It does shed off the dress and I had glitter all over the floor after trying both of them on. The glitter is very fine though. I don't know what color the glitter is on the other colors of dresses, but the glitter on the navy blue ones I received is blue so it doesn't stand out like you have silver specks all over you. I like that it blends in but is still sparkly. They seem to be decently made. They are made in China, unfortunately. I like the dress, but I am not happy they sent the wrong color and I would really like them to send the right color. ... show more

I originally ordered this for a wedding in Chicago in December. The fit was perfect and looked great. I got sick and could not attend the wedding so I sent it back. My husbands school has a benefit gala every year so when the notice was sent out I re ordered the same dress. Again, the fit was perfect and looked wonderful. Glitter bomb! The review are true: ignore at your own peril and prepare to vacuum. Glitter. Everywhere. Also true that the skirt is very long. The smoke color is a pretty grey. The bodice has narrow straps, is loose on my small chest and doesn't go quite low enough to cover a pooch belly. I did like that it has a separate jacket, but it does make it feel a bit more matronly. I am 5'6" and 130 pounds and ordered size 6P. ... show more

review Alex Evenings had always been a brand I could count on, but this dress cost me more to have it altered than what I paid for it. Unfortunately what I thought would be simple alterations ended up being a "remake of the dress". For a petite size the bodice of the dress was very wide and loose. The hem was 1" shorter on one side of the dress than the front and back of the dress. The jacket was big and had to take it in on the sides and arms. The neckline was so wide to make it fit had to add a small pleat in the center front. Alex Evenings gowns have always fit me very well and had been a quality brand. I found this dress to be exception, sadly, I can only give this dress 1 star. ... show more

I actually ended up ordering a size too large since my size wasn't available, so I had to have it altered by having the shoulder straps pulled up. I wore this to my daughter's formal wedding and reception and received numerous compliments! Sure, some of the sparkles fall off, but it's not like it sheds sparkles. It wasn't excessive and no big deal for the amount of sparkles that came off. I think you expect that with any item that has any type of sparkle to t. I had this dress and jacket dry cleaned afterward and it turned out fine, but I do use a good cleaners, not a "budget" type cleaners as I wanted the dress properly cleaned and not ruined. I tried on numerous long dresses to wear in my daughter's wedding and was thrilled to find this one! It was comfortable and helped to not reveal every single lump and bump from someone wearing this size. :) ... show more
