I wore this to my son's wedding. There were several things I felt were a must for the dress I wore. It needed to cover the dreaded underarm chunk. It needed to be lightweight so I wouldn't get overheated dancing and conceal sweat from said dancing. I wanted it gathered on the side since that style goes a long way in making me look thinner. Also a huge help to lessen the look of bloating. Wedding food can do that. I like a simple elegant, understated style and that can be a tricky search all on its own. I eyed this for months but the glitter held me back. But I couldn't find anything when I went shopping. Nothing came closer to what I wanted. So I ordered it with a lot of unknowns. I don't know how heavy it was, how the sleeves would lay or if it would be comfortable. I couldn't believe it, it nailed every picky requirement. Not only was it light weight, it also was stretchy and super comfy! I never imagined I wouldn't have to settle. It was everything I hoped it'd be! I danced like all night while being nice and cool. I had so many compliments. I hope for another event I can wear it to. I may be like Miss Havisham and wear it everyday. Then when I'm old be buried in it. Just kidding. Ok maybe I'm not but that would make me a bit crazy. Maybe I already am. But let's not be judgy.

This dress is flattering and beautiful. I deducted a star because 1 of the large beads had already fallen off inside the packaging, and 1 of the medium size beads was dangling. I had to re-attach them and secure several beads. That was a bit disappointing. But overall it’s a stunning dress!

This dress I ordered for my daughters wedding, after already having a different dress I wasn't completely happy with. I was trying to loose a few pounds before the wedding and was disappointed when I failed at that. But I felt this dress was very flattering and the way it gathers on the side helped make me look slimmer somehow. Also very comfortable! Definitely happy I decided to give this dress a try !

The color is a true burgundy. The length was perfect. It has a slit up one side, to about my knee, classy, not too revealing. I knew I’d be wearing a full body slimmer because I have larger thighs and tummy rolls. The slit doesn’t show the thigh length slimmer and the way the dress pulls up and to the side, you can’t see any trace of the corset. Im normally a size 12-14. I’m guessing I’m a size 10 maybe 12 with the full body slimmer. ( for size reference. ) The dress is comfortable, not restricting in any way but that means it doesn’t really offer much for compression/slimming but the ruching does help camouflage your tummy a bit. I’m 5’ 3 “. 175 lbs. 38DD Only negative was the beading was loose in a few spots and one bead was missing when it arrived. I later found it in the packaging. I didn’t want to bother with the hassle of returning it but for that price, I kind of expected better beading. As long as nothing else falls off, it shouldn’t be too noticeable. Over all very satisfied. 😊

Ordered this for my Mother of the Groom dress after going to a few very upscale places, trying on their dresses that were in the $750 - $2000 range. They were gorgeous gowns but there was no way I was gonna pay that kind of money for a dress I will most likely wear once. (Plus I've got three other boys to marry off.) The reason to go to the fancy places was to see what they knew would look passable on my short 5'0" ft, 152 lb curvy frame. I am not one to get dressy since I've gained weight, so I was really dreading the search for something in my price range. But I did take their advice on looking for something with diagonal ruching across the waist (to give me a more slender look) and a drape that fell straight down one side (to draw the eye up and down like a column.) Well darned if their advice didn't work even on the more reasonably priced dresses! I don't really cotton to dresses with a lot of lace or sequins or other gee-gaws. This looks elegant, not cheap or tacky (though I did make a point of getting the style of this dress with the "illusion drape that has a tiny bit of diamondy beading at one spot on the waist - NOT the one with all of the glitter everywhere.) I've actually ordered 3 different dresses in similar styles from Alex Evenings, all in size 10 or 10P, with the other two having flattering bolero jackets to hide old lady arms. Though the cold shoulder gives a lot of coverage. Btw, this one is a 10P - the length is PERFECT with my heels on.) My intention is to choose one of them and then return at least one. Very content with Alex Evenings for looking classy and not cheap.
