Description

The RMS Titanic will go down in maritime history as not just the larges and most luxurious passenger ship afloat upon its launch in 1912, but also as the most infamous, due to its now legendary maiden voyage. Despite warnings given to it by other ships, the Titanic steamed into the side of an iceberg on the night of April 14th, 1912. This tore a large hole in the side of the hull, overwhelming the ship's famed, water tight compartments. As water piured in, the order was given to abandon ship, with women and children being prioritized over men. Of the 2224 passengers on board, just 711 survived, with the vast majority being women and children of the first and second class. Today, more than 100 years after its maiden voyage and sinking, the legend of the Titanic continues to capture the imagination of the world. Built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and launched on May 31st, 1911, the Royal Mail Steam Ship Titanic was one of the three Olympic-class passenger ships built for the White Star Line. The largest, most luxuriant passenger ship ever built at the time, Titanic sailedon her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. Captained by Edward J Smith, Titanic left Southampton setting course across the Atlantic for New York on April 10th, 1912.

  • Pretty good kit
I would have given this 5 stars but when it came time to mount the decks into the hull I had to make some drastic modifications to make it fit, like removing the inside hull braces and cutting the tabs off the side pieces. The stand supports are also kinda flimsy - had to shore them up to keep the ship from sinking again. Otherwise it’s a usual good kit from Airfix. Paint and glue included. You will need a sharp knife to trip plastic from parts and I DARE you to build this kit without a pair of tweezers! Not recommended for beginners!!! ... show more

  • Missing Pieces
Bought the first one from Amazon for $100.00 bucks. When it arrived, I found out they just placed a label on it, and the box got torn up very bad. One of the tubes of glue was punctured and glue was on some of the parts. I notified Amazon of this bad packing and the damage from the glue, and they immediately sent me a label to ship it back. The next day I got a refund So as far as I am concerned Amazon did an excellent job of correcting the problem. However, I noticed the next day the same model if the titanic was on sale for $60.00 bucks and I ordered another one. It arrived intact but 2/3rds in the build I discovered a tree containing 4 very important parts were missing. I contacted Aifix and they stated it will take at least 28 days to get the parts shipped if possible. It's been about 13 days and not a word. we'll see what happens. For $60 bucks for a model I would think I should get all the parts. ... show more
